Drug toxicity

Drug toxicity

Hi all,

One of my meds requires me to have regular blood levels to check serum levels. I am due for that blood test tomorrow morning. However I am quite worried I am going into toxiciy realm.

My dosage is very high of the drug and I have had an upset stomach for a few days. I have also not been drinking enough water to replace fluids.

I am having a bad time of it anyway and feel like absoulte rubbish but now I am scared about this.

I know I will get the test tomorrow morning and that if there is a problem my psychiatrist will ring me straight away.

Im really shaky, upset stomach, poor memory and clenching my jaw alot. I just am getting confused. Not drastically so but enough to look frazzled to other people.

If I wake up and Im worse I will go to the dr from the blood test (in the same building) but there is nothing they can do until they get the serum level result.

I havent reached toxic level before on this drug.....

Hi @Ayesha

Sounds like its good timing that you are getting the blood test tomorrow! Can you make an appointment for a check up anyway, incase its something else?

Fair enough to feel worried about it, i hope that you get good news tomorrow!

Re: Drug toxicity

@Ayesha. That's great that you are aware of possible toxic levels and are aware of how you are feeling now.
Could you write down how you are feeling - in your body - anxiety wise etc and show this to your doctor?
I agree with @Former-Member. Regardless of how you are feeling in the morning, I think it would be good to see your doctor and let him know how you have been feeling. Also tell him about your worries about reaching toxic levels with this medication.
Ask questions. What will happen if you do reach toxic levels? What can he do to help you? What are the warning signs - or are you already experiencing them?
Are you worried something may happen tonight - before your blood test tomorrow? If so - Nurse on Call maybe able to help you. Or you could go to the doctors rooms tonight or the local hospital.

Re: Drug toxicity

I had the same symptoms as you I'm assuming on the same medication as I have to get regular blood tests for serium levels.

I was ill in the belly and very disoriented for a week. I was confused and in and out of focus. Actualy one of the staff members at work though I was coming down on pills and was freaking out that I may of had a slight OD on them and while chatting to me was like hey come back to me your eyes are losing focus.

I went straight to the doctor. I couldn't see my doctor but the doctor looked at me and was like this ain't normal and got my doctor in and he was like yep this ain't you.

I had rushed blood tests and straight off the meds. And guess what only slightly high level. Not even dangerous. If I kept going it would of became bad.

So you never know you might like be me. Very sensitive to any change and caught it way in time.

If you are on the same med as I'm thinking off. You know the real dangerous symptoms and if you do get them go to hospital. If your nerves you can always call the nurse hotline

I agree here. I've been on the same drug and had the same problem. The side effects can go away by itself too. It's a challenging medication but it is well worth trying to stay on it if you can.

Re: Drug toxicity

Hi all....

I had the blood test this morning but my psychiatrist finished work at 2pm so wouldn't have gotten the results yet. I see him tomorrow afternoon at 5pm for an appointment anyway.

I'm still really worried but a small part of me wonders if I'm catasphorising too???
