Chip away, there is something beautiful waiting to come out

I am a sculptor

I take raw solid rock

and transform it into something new

I take the rugged and make it stylised

I create something new from something old

A sculptor must be patient

for many rocks are tough and stubborn

they do not give of their potential easily

and that’s okay, its just what they are

But I tap away, hammer and chisel

strike after strike with faith

I might have to strike one hundred times

with seemingly no result

yet I know the truth

for inside the stone every strike adds up

and that sustained effort pays off

it just needs time, patience

and focus

True change is like that

When we first try to change

we are like that tough rock

we resist with all our might

because it seems safer to be

yet with sustained focus and patience

we can transform ourselves into something better

We might need to adjust our chisel from time to time

we might make mistakes and have to correct them as we go

but we can’t give up because then we are just like a rock

static, unmoving, delayed potential

No effort you put forth is ever wasted

every strike you make adds up

and once made, it cannot be unmade

energy cannot be destroyed you see?

Merely transformed

The best thing is you can sculpt what you really want

within reason, you can do, be, have what you want

it’s just time, determination, patience

and hundreds of minor adjustments

along the way until one day

life feels better because

you are better

Now you really ‘rock’
