Torn Between Connection and Mental Health
I've had a long standing friendship with a gaming friend I jokingly call my 'game husband'...we have been friends for a number of years but we have never met irl. When we are playing our game things are generally good, but when we stray to topics outside of gaming then things can get iffy, He is a conspiracy theorist, and while I believe not all conspiracies are wrong - I don't believe he bases his opinions on sound evidence. And who can decide any more what is sound evidence, main stream media is a problem and everything else is pretty much vibes based. His politics is diametrically opposed to mine, not that he realises that because I am too scared to tell him what my politics are because he believes everyone who disagrees with him is evil - so I keep my mouth shut. And then by his own reports he solves his problems with violence. Violence that he believes is righteous but violence none the less. Not towards me obviously - we have never met. And I don't whether he tells me these stories to impress me in some kind of twisted way or he is just being honest.
I don't quite know why but all this adds up to him making me a bit anxious and paranoid about him at points. I have schizoaffective disorder. After winding me up today over something, my psychiatrist has said I need to cut him off. Block him. Because his brand of delusion doesn't work well for my mental health and it's true I probably need to cut him off, but I'm really torn. Because after all is said and done we have been good friends for quite some time. I know he cares (and I care) and I know he would be lonely without me. My anxiety is through the roof, and I don't really know what to do.
