We are all just walking each other home

We are all just walking each other home

Genuine compassion requires letting go of the ego-driven identity of being the "helper" and the other as the "helpee," which actually creates separation.

Feeling good has been bumming me out today.

I had a post about it, which I didn't publish, it was attempted humor but it felt wrong, it was glib.

Now that I have sat with it for a few hours.

When I'm not ok, my ego is in check. When I am ok, my ego is more dominant. I think this is the main source of discomfort for me.

The reason my ego is central to my thoughts is that I am trying to become nobody. I have had tastes of it and it is truely liberating.

"You can have it all but first you have to become nobody."

"Having it All" explained is. When you stop trying to be a specific, constrained "somebody," you cease to have tension, pretenses, or fears of losing your status. This brings you to a state of being where you can "have it all"—meaning you are present, open, and connected to the universe rather than a limited identity.

The Taoist discipline of Wu Wei has at the heart of it, this concept "do nothing and nothing is left undone"

Which means results are achieved without forceful struggle.

I think when I feel bad it is easy to do but when I feel good I tense up and things feel forced.

When I feel good I'm the "helper" creating separation but when I dont feel good I'm nobody.

I know this is just an atrophied muscle. But it's a tough one to work on because feeling good isn't a regular occurrence and it's not easy to want to do the work when I just want to enjoy it while it lasts. But then I feel uneasy.

Now that I've named it. Next time I feel good I'm going to do the work.

Let me end on a joke,

The Rabbi is standing at the altar, overcome with religious fervor. He throws himself on the floor and cries out, "Oh God, I am nothing! I am nothing!"

The Cantor, seeing this, is also swept up in the spirit. He throws himself down next to the Rabbi and shouts, "Oh God, I too am nothing! I am nothing!"

The janitor at the back of the synagogue, watching this display, is moved to his knees. He throws himself down and cries out, "Oh God, I am nothing!

"The Rabbi nudges the Cantor and whispers, "Look who thinks he's nothing!"

Well I do hope we find a pleasant garden path or bush track to wonder down... lol @i8myego

we have read similar books... Camus, Sisyphus and Foucault ... lol

Maybe there wil even be some roses to smell on the way ...

Walking and talking is good for me, but I also need a fair amount of solitude.

@Appleblossom 🙂

Roses to smell? Being very optimistic over there.

I'm over here hoping to avoid the dog poop

Just joking.

Re: We are all just walking each other home

@Appleblossom I have recently been considering if I am an optimist or a pessimist. And because I can hold both opinions in my head together and try to walk the middle ground it was impossible for me to reach a solid conclusion.

My "humor" here has allowed me to breakthrough into my subconscious without clinging to my preferred option.

I'm a pessimist. When I misplace my car keys my very first thought, before I catch it and flip it, is always "how am I going to live without my car keys"

I have always loved humor. I think it allows us to explore our subconscious in an unguarded way. And express it to others in a non-threatening way. It is one of the greatest tools we have.

I actually edited my original reply to add the line "just joking" to easy my discomfort at being what I perceived as an act of diminishing your beautiful thought.

Which lead me here.

As a pessimist I worry and anticipate more then is necessary. I feel great joy at having located the source of this tension.

Thank you for your support.

@i8myego i love your humour, and i love ypur insight into self. I enjoy reading it when i am (mentally/emotionally & time) available.

Feel free to tag me in any posts like this, or in any quirky or dark humour 😊. I cant say i'll read it in a timely manner, but it gives me the awareness there is a post i might enjoy to read when i can.

Insight into contradictions, irony and quirks is part of what drives my humour. Humour is how i dont cry and fall in a heap when life goes awry or big challenges/frustrations. But sometimes my jokes from real-life are "too serious" to post here 😅 and i have to keep them to myself. But i do sometimes share ones that are appropriate. Let me know if you'd like me to tag you in them when i do.

I wonder even.. if you wanted to start a quirky/dark/wry humour thread - you could 😊.

@Appleblossom is such a lovely person and deep thinker. Another person i love reading the reflections and insights of here. 🥰

@AlwaysMyself

Thank you. I love this. I can't even say which part. I love it all.

I'm a hard yes on the dark humor thread. Only thing I will ask of you is this, please don't censor yourself. If I'm offended that is on me, not you. Plus, I want to be challenged.

I will not force it but the ADHD brain might also forget, so let's see how it goes. The next time one of us wants to revel in the absurdity of life, we tag each other and that will be our thread. The first one to post gets to name it.

Oh, and this is a timeless space. Time is just an abstract theory in my opinion.

I'm AuDHD, so i also think and see things different to the average person in my life 😉 @i8myego . I think i will enjoy your ADHD-brain also 😆. I will only sensor myself for the purposes of comm guidelines.

But here's a taster:

Yesterday i went to the GP and told him i had dangerously high blood pressure the day before due to distress, and thus to check where it was as it felt elevated but not dangerous. He took it and it was elevated but safe. Then in the appointment i became extremely distressed and melted down. I had to leave as time was up.

I walked out of the GP office with a dangerously high blood pressure, having gone in at a safe level.

It reminds me of you walking through a garden looking out for dog poop! 🤣

@AlwaysMyself 😂 that sounds like my experience with therapy😂. I have only been medicated for about 6 months now. And now that I can keep the thought train on its track longer I've "become" intelligent to the point the therapist (that word, omg, put a space between the e and the r) I was working with had to let me go after I started advocating for what I needed. She was right to do so, she couldn't help me any further.

Re: We are all just walking each other home

@AlwaysMyself just in regard to community guidelines. I can struggle with comprehension. Not in the traditional sense but in the sense that language is a very imprecise tool.

Often people bring different context to exactly the same words and nobody has time to declare in what context they are using each word. This is why there is so much angst in the world.

People use the same word with different definitions to each other in a conversation thinking they are talking about the same thing.

Also, philosopher's can often feel the need to make up words to precisely describe what they are thinking. They then have to dedicate a whole chapter to defining and explaining that word.

Language is a very imprecise tool and I use this in favour of my own personal bias (as we all do). And I can find myself in a place where I'm not wrong but also I'm not right.

I'm a boundary pusher and a dopamine seeker with a strong feral streak. The wholly trinity of the "outsider" 😂. I'm more comfortable when I can trust that I will get good feedback. So please do let me know if I get it wrong. With the right feedback I will learn the appropriate path forward in this particular context. 🙂

Oh, and of course only if you feel comfortable doing so. Please always put your needs first. I'm just a bouncy rubber ball. 😐🤔😊.

I hear you @Appleblossom and 100% with you regarding company and solitude.

I enjoy small amounts of company and connection, this being outweighed by my need for solitude and quiet. 😊

I don't mind dark humour @i8myego and love how you described humour as working the unconscious. You didn't have to write ... just joking ... but then again ... without visual cues and body language... it can help ... all good.

I am celebrating being a fence sitter... and non dualism... I am quietly mildly optimistic... but I cant understand why... I also slip off the fence from time to time... either way... lol...on many arguments...

I also loved @AlwaysMyself posting .."in the sense that language is a very imprecise tool."

I feel that greatly... having to swim among a few lingos in my life... though NOPE...

i dont wanna read another nitpicky pedantic chapter in philosophy... lol...I love philosophy, but dropped it cos not sure academia is the best place for... ... sophia..or ...love lol... so I can make some decisions... just there's been a lot of complication around... so gotta chew the cud... from time to time...
