Earplugs

Earplugs

Has anyone who struggles with noise sensory overload issues used any type of earplugs that helps reduce the impact of noises whilst still allowing conversations etc to be heard clearly?

I have come across one type by doing google search.

they are expensive and only available via online store from the company. I don’t have a spare $xx to purchase a pair if they don’t work

Re: Earplugs

Yes, Loop... they go in your ear and you can close them so they let a little bit of noise in. We have sensitive ears in our house and a child who likes echolalias...

Hey @Flutterbug9

I certainly struggle with noise-induced sensory overload, and I've had a lot of success with the Loop Engage earplugs, which let me have conversations without hearing everything else in the background (it's really helpful when I'm out shopping or using public transport).

Although they are quite expensive, which is why I didn't buy them for so long. I did buy it as a set that came with a carry case, different ear tips to help you find the right size, and inserts that lower noise levels even more. I was also worried about possible physical sensory issues from having them in my ears, but they're actually quite comfy and not annoying, personally (I sometimes forget I have them in haha).

I think you can buy similar, cheaper ones online, though I cannot comment on their quality, as I have not tried them.

Re: Earplugs

I got some loop earplugs ages ago, mostly to use when I go to groups, but haven’t really been to any groups, so haven’t used any yet

Thanks @Anonymouse1000 @MatchaToad @Bow

Loop are the ones I’ve been looking at online.

I like the idea of the carry case plus different size ear tips.
my ears get sore when using traditional ear pieces when listening to mp4 player.

They are so good, they come in a little keyring case... of course I lost mine lol... a real expensive set of noise cancellation earbuds are the samsung 3 I think they are... but they are so expensive.

Re: Earplugs

I have Loops, which are fantastic. Great for shopping malls etc - and I can still hear the people I am talking to. I have seen the cheaper version of these online, but have not tried them or heard anybody's experience of them. I'd suggest saving up for the Loops and getting your moneys worth.

Re: Earplugs

Just be careful of the carrier case, the little silicon loop on it does not like being on a keyring.

But yes, I have Loops Engage 2 which are fantastic and worth the money. I use them everywhere, including grocery shopping. It makes going out less sensory.
