Housing Help for my mum

Housing Help for my mum

hi! im very new to all this and ive just found this website through some googling. I am an 18 year old, currently living with my friends family due to family issues (my dad has his only family some place else and my mum is currently in another country). My mum suffers from bad mental illness (schizophrenia) she has meds and is stable when she takes them frequently. She is returning back to Australia (Melbourne) quite soon and she has not found any housing. Im constantly busy with work and im trying my best to find some sort of housing or help her find some place to stay (thats not too pricey as my mum hasnt been able to work). Wondering if theres any services or places or programs or just anything that would be able to help! Sorry this message is so long any advice or help is very appreciated tysm! 🙏💕

Hi 👋🏼 @lisabun_31 Welcome to the Forum. You are doing really well. Your post was clear and concise.

Someone like @Jynx or @tyme would have information about Melbourne.

@lisabun_31 Hi and welcome to the forums, we are so glad you are here! I hear that you are wanting to help MUM find some housing when she returns to Melbourne. There is a number for crisis accommodation and housing advice, and you can (or Mum) talk to a housing and support worker- 1800 825 955. There is also www.unitingvictus.org.au for assistance around homelessness and accommodation (03) 91928100 and also organizations like Salvation Army in Melbourne, perhaps call their general enquiries line 137258. There is also a good link/search engine where you can type in the type of service or help needed and your location etc and it will give you services in your area: askizzy.org.au

I hope these might be helpful suggestions and hopefully other people might also have some suggestions for you. Take good care of yourself and once again welcome and we are so glad you are here!!!!

Not sure if they can help but still might be worth contacting Launch Housing, they may be able to point you in the right direction @lisabun_31
