PETSCAN

PETSCAN

Hi all,

Hope all is ok with everyone.

Had my petscan, came back with Non Specific Abnormality In The Frontal Lobe.

Am waiting to hear when I get to see a Neurologist.

Also by telling my phychiatrist that I'm hearing this could this land me in hospital.?

Or should I not say anything.?

This Week I've had a hard time dealing with something.

Regards

Re: PETSCAN

Hello @Abby6_2025 sorry you're having a hard time dealing with something. I hope you can resolve it.

For me, I'd definitely talk to my psychiatrist about brain scans and my concerns around them. I had a brain scan that showed age-related changes in the normal range.

One thing I'd ask the psychiatrist is whether I should see a neuropsychologist as well as waiting for the neurologist.

Hope you're coping OK with not driving and with your recent mh concerns... on top of caring for hubby.

What are you doing for selfcare? Is there anything in particular you enjoy?

@Dimity
I enjoy doing mindfull colouring in & listening to music.

Should I speak to my physciatrist about phycosis or keep quiet?
I don't want to end up on a MH ward.

Ulmmm.

@Abby6_2025 i hear you're nervous of a hospital admission. So you don't want to mention possible psychosis

Are you on a mood stabiliser or antipsychotic? If you can tell your psychiatrist you're struggling a bit and wonder if the dose should be tweaked, that might actually help keep you out of hospital.

My psychiatrist is always happy to suggest tweaking the dose when things seem a bit rocky. then bringing the dose back down when things settle. On the other hand if your current med isn't holding you you might need a longer term change.

I see hospital as an emergency backstop when other ways of coping aren't available or aren't working. Working with my psychiatrist to avoid hospital is pretty important to me. It was pretty successful for over 20 years until things went wrong at one stage last year.

Hello @Abby6_2025 .

Sorry to hear about the driving and family problems. No wonder yiu haven't been in a good mood.

I hope the new meds are helping but sometimes it takes a while to get used to them. Fingers crossed the psychiatrist appt goes well. I catch up with my psychiatrist this Friday too.

I'm just back from a trip to the opshop. I took some stuff as I'm trying to declutter.
