Reliving the past

Reliving the past

I've been referred to a new psychiatrist. It's been a few weeks but I keep putting of making the call and booking. I don't know what im afraid of. I'm desperate for help but I just don't want to have to go through everything again.

Hey @Whaledone1234 ,

That sounds so hard. I'm sorry it's been so difficult.

Do you have a trusted person who can make the call with you? I know that in most places, wait lists can be really long, so I wonder if you even make the call now, you may not get an appointment for a while yet? That way, it'll give you time to work through some of those emotions?

Hey @tyme The wait list is something I have considered. I think tomorrow I will make the call and just get it over and done with because you're right, it could be months of waiting anyway.

I'm pretty good at hiding my emotional state sometimes I think I even manage to hide it from myself. I get through the whole day with the 'I'm fine' mask on for everyone else to see that I start to believe it and think that maybe the appointment isn't that important.

I have someone close to me who called for an appointment... there is an 11 month wait!!!! @Whaledone1234

How'd you go with the call?

Masking has its place, but ongoign masking can be exhausting. I know this first hand. I used to hold myself so well at work, so that as soon as I was around familiar people, I'd drop the mask and complete lash out. It was always a beauty and the beast scenario. I was 'beauty' one moment, then once the mask dropped, it was 'beast'.

Thinking of you and hope you are okay.

Re: Reliving the past

Hey @tyme I did call and it was fine. Unfortunately the costs were not within my budget at this time. I have done some research and found clinics less than half the cost so I will try and make some calls in the next few days and see where I can get in and then have my doctor redo the referral.

Most recently I was having online consultations but I'm looking for face to face. If I'm unable to get something soon I will book another online appointment while I wait for face to face.

Thank you for following up it's very kind of you.
