Loneliness
Hi...
I lost both parents 5 years ago. I thought I was coping ok, but the last 5 months have been hell. It's like I woke up to the reality that I'm all alone - no family, no friends, no social support. The loneliness and isolation is unbearable. I'm depressed, have anxiety, insomnia. I've been taking new medication for about 2 months - [edited by moderator.] I have no appetite until late evening. I've lost [significant weight] in the last 4 months. I'm barely looking after myself, bed rotting. I've had the acute mental health team assess me and I was put into PECC for 5 days. I'm introverted, so being in there was traumatic and has made me more anxious of reaching out for help. I've tried meditation, yoga nidra and reaching out to the lone neighbour I know. Co-regulation of my nervous system is not sustained. I'm even considering getting a housemate just to have a constant human connection and presence in the house... And yes, I tried all the supposed "right things" before it got this bad - I went into nature, I probably overworked trying to keep myself busy and function, I sat amongst people at food courts, I walked as exercise. It was temporary distraction. I'm not the same and I can't even find that inner calm which terrifies me. I don't enjoy or laugh anymore. The sadness and loneliness is deep and existential and trying to connect with real people in this AI world just makes it harder. What else can I do? Who do I turn to when I have no-one?
