What to do ?

What to do ?

I just don't know what to do anymore. I try to fight the black dog everyday but feel it's a losing battle. Today I went to a funeral for my adopted family and everyone walked out together except me. I felt lost. I'm trying to work out what I could contribute to this world job wise without losing it emotionally at work.?At my tether

Re: What to do ?

Hi @Tiki

It sounds like you are going through a very dark time. I think most of us here can relate to how you are feeling and I would like you to know that you are not alone.

Have you sought help from a medical professional for your depression? Have you consulted a psychologist to talk through your pain and how you feel lost? I think the right support would help you tremendously together with reaching out on here.

When we feel we don't belong, don't feel valued or know our place in the world we can feel lost and depressed. A helplessness can overtake. I use to feel like that @Tiki in the past but with help and reaching out to the right people I found my feet. Once you receive that help and feel better in yourself the career and the rest will follow. Please keep posting as others will soon join in. Sending you a warm hug 🤗

Re: What to do ?

Hi @Tiki

Welcome to the forums! (I don't think we've met before, if we have sorry!).

Sounds like today was a tough day for many reasons (condolences). I know what you mean to be feeling lost and not sure where you want to be in life... and i could be reading this wrong, but also alone/lonely? I have no family and often feel similar, though im growing in my ability to be ok with being on my own, and developing friendships slowly :).

When you say you're trying to work out work, does that mean you're trying to decide what you might want to do in the future or in your current job?

Thank you for sharing your post, and about today,

I hope you're ok,

lj

Hello @Tiki

I have not met you before I don't think, it's nice to meet you 🙂

I am so sorry you sound like you are really struggling at the moment with not knowing what to do with your your job and quite emotional it seems on top of losing someone in your life which has got to be triggering some things for you.

There seems to be a lack of hope I am sensing and I am wondering whether you are feeling alone in coping right now? What kind of support do you have to make you feel less alone? It's great you have come on to the forums to find some support, that can be a really hard thing to do so well done 🙂

Here for you @Tiki,

Lunar

Re: What to do ?

I have seen a pyschologist but am still struggling. I really don't have any support and that is what makes it difficult.

Re: What to do ?

Because of being the type of person that goes off and hides in the office storage because I can't cope with stress(ptsd) crying and coming back out acting like nothing has happened. I don't want to continue being like this

Re: What to do ?

Yes I have seen a psychologist but everything costs money. How the hell are people who want help really able to get it without spending a fortune. I want to make friends but find it very difficult because of abuse from the past

Re: What to do ?

Hi @Tiki

You're right, it seems really unfair when everything costs money.

Just to help us get a better understanding of things (and therefore giving you some helpful advice and support), have you used up your medicare covered psychologist appointments?

SANE's Help Centre might be able to give you some referrals for other community supports. You can contact them during business hours (AEDT) on 1800 18 7263

This community is a great place to start building friendships (we're a pretty friendly bunch!) and hopefully help you build confidence to establish friendships offline.'
