Wind-down Wednesday

Wind-down Wednesday

This time of year can be difficult for a lot of people for many different reasons. Some find joy and some find loneliness and pain.

During this time we need to look out for ourselves. I struggle with self-care but as my psych put it yesterday it’s about maintenance. You service your car you need to service yourself.

What is something little you can do today and over the next coming days to maintain your mind and body. Could it be sitting and having a coffee and relishing the moment not thinking about what is next or what is coming? Noticing the warmth that it gives. Could it be reading a little bit of a book and focusing on that? Spending time with a pet and feeling the love and connection? Or anything that takes just 5 minutes to be out of your mind and just be. Focus on that moment.

For me I’m going to have a bath and just focus on the scent of the candle and listen to my white noise and hopefully block everything else out.

Re: Wind-down Wednesday

@Captain24 , this is really relevant and resonating advice for me at my current stage of recovery.

For me this morning it's sitting down and savouring my one approved cup of coffee, taking in the aroma and smell and listening to the cars racing by from my open window, taking in fresh air and appreciating the stillness of the moment 🌻🌟

I would tag the rest of you lovely friends but my @ button is malfunctioning at this time 😔🫣

Re: Wind-down Wednesday

That sounds lovely @Rosepetal96. Just a quiet moment to yourself. That’s what this is about. Just a peaceful recharge. A moment of maintenance.

Im not good at tagging but I do have help coming so everyone can get involved!

Re: Wind-down Wednesday

For me, being nice to myself meant doing my nails, taking a relaxing shower and putting on my best set of pyjamas. I'm ruled by the planet Venus so doing something feminine is naturally part of my agenda. I also treated myself to a $50 Christmas gift as I won't be receiving any presents this year (yet again! But who wants presents from relatives that bully you anyway?!).

Trying hard to distract myself and beat the Depression up. I can really feel it at this time of the year. Thank God, the Schizophrenia is relatively under control.

Merry Christmas Eve, everyone!

Well done on looking after yourself @FearofUnknown. A shower can be so hard.

A small gift to yourself is lovely. I think sometimes it may be better alone than with people that treat you badly. I hope you are able to look after yourself tomorrow as well.

Merry Christmas Eve to you as well.

Re: Wind-down Wednesday

@FearofUnknown that sounds like a wonderful relaxing routine 😌

And I say there is absolutely no harm in splurging a little on yourself, we all work hard to just simple be sometimes, so it's always worth a little treat to take care of ourselves 🌻

Re: Wind-down Wednesday

@rav3n , you've just reminded me of my two colouring books I have!

One is flowers and one is mandalas, I say I crack these out with some relaxing music next time I'm feeling blergh

Great self care moment ❤️

I hope you enjoy your colouring,

What's your go to TV series for background noise?

Re: Wind-down Wednesday

@FearofUnknown , I completely forgot to say Merry Christmas eve, to you, also! 🌟🌟

I am sorry, my low iron has been doing this to me lately, but I am to fix this issue today with my infusion! Hopefully the next few weeks bring some relief

Re: Wind-down Wednesday

@Rosepetal96 oo that sounds nice, i can imagine how calming that would be!! do you have a particular genre of music you prefer to listen to when colouring?
this is the colouring book i bought:

usually it's greys anatomy or the vampire diaries on the background, although right now i'm rewatching brooklyn nine-nine so maybe that. how about you? @Rosepetal96
