@Bunniekins With you all the way Bun, not sure what we can do though. Our political system, justice system, health system and educational system have been monetised. And is in the hands of those who seek world control. In my opinion the division, improvisation, and control of the Australian people through fears and threats to our safety and wellbeing, is now priority one, instead of working for our safety and life opportunities.

@DownMoreThanUp its a worry DownMoreThanUp. i was talking to my eldest son and we were despairing about the lack of choice of political parties in what they stand for. if you go for one party they are bound to have some unpalatable items which they put forward to the australian people which i wouldnt vote for in a fit! we need a true leader and there doesnt seem to be either a party or a leader which suits the bill in australia right now imho.

I am horrified @Bunniekins and have just been speaking with my Jewish friend. Her grandparents lived through the holocaust and thought they were safe in Australia.

I didn't know what had happened, and had to google it (I don't watch/read news). My heart goes out to anyone affected - directly or indirectly. No one deserves violence like this. And the trauma for those of the community and those who witnessed. 😰 @Eve7 just saw your post - thinking of you and your friend in this too.

I am not well versed in how government or communities can prevent incidents like this happening. I fear that those who are extreme in their prejudices and violence will not be concerned by media campaigns or wider community sentiments. 😢

Other than continued communications-monitoring or supply-tracking, what can the government do to identify and prevent future incidents where the offenders are not already known to security? (this is a genuine question, because I do not know / have not had education in this area)

I can wish the gòod people in multicultural Australia could sequester themselves from foreign conflicts. In the last week I've spoken to people from widely disparate cultures and religions who chose to make Australia their home.

I also spoke with a range of people today... Chinese, Argentinian, African, Samoan, Scots, Dutch, Australian, Polish...

there is a lot of goodwill for multiculturalism, but also a lot of stretching required to honestly conneect

"gagged and bound by the worlds history" governments and people not all but alot look at Jewish people with both guilt and mistrust. jewish peoples are always the whipping boy. i am not talking through my hat because my grandmother lost all her family in the holocaust save her mother and one sister. i am not going to go into recent events in the middle east because it is complex and to be honest i dont think many people actually understand why it has played out the way it has. they rely upon mainstream biased media and just dont get it. again jews are always the convenient scapegoats politically.

@Eve7 hi Eve7 they never were. i remember years ago when i was about 15 two friends of mine one jewish and the other not were walking through bondi when a group of (i wont say because that will be stereotyping even though it was the truth) young men stopped their car and beat up the non jewish one. you might ask why because they thought he was jewish he was dark haired brown eyed whereas the jewish one had blonde curls and blue eyes. this was the early 80s. kind of ironic but not surprising.

this is what happens when hate speech is allowed. legislature is only written against such speech when it is written in blood.
