Alice in wonder syndome!

Alice in wonder syndome!

Lewis Carroll wrote...

I wonder if I've changed in the night? Let me think...was I the same when I got up this morning? I almost think I can remember feeling a little different. But if I'm not the same, the question is, WHO IN THE WORLD AM I??? Ah, that's the great puzzle...

Anyone else out there who feels they never know how they are going to be from one day to the next? Hopefully the difference we feel can be positive but for the last few days I've been out of sorts. Nothing has been easy since christmas really... bathroom leaked and had to be ripped out, had a car bingle which meant claiming on my insurance and walked downstairs to find myself in ankle deep water, hot water system exploded. Where does the money come from?

Just so tired, which always leaves me vulnearable to my flashbacks and such. Too exhausted to keep the barriers up, I guess. And so I begin to ask.. who in the world am I and does it even matter. Saw my psychologist and she suggested that I had reason to feel like this but I hate the instability of my thoughts. She did make me laugh when she advised me to keep doing enough to at least keep myself afloat, no pun intended ie hot water flood.lol

Anyway just wondering if anyone else is questioning themselves almost every day and what we can do about it... Bb.

Hi BaileyBoy,

Yep, I had what you describe last year. Mine had a distinct cause however, withdrawal from a prescribed Benzodiazepine class drug. It has somewhat settled down this year but I've sometimes had an element of this in various forms throughout my life so far. I think if you seek stability and your treatment is right, you will have stability. Take care.

Hi @Baileyboy.

I can relate to your post. I find it so hard being s different person everyday. I can't plan anything because I never know what version of me will show up and I always worry about it being the distressed me.

Now the hard part. I have no idea how to change it. I'd do anything to string a few ok days together and be able to plan a bit better who is likely to show up. 💜🤗

I also worry about how I'm going to feel each day @Former-Member but I do try to do what I have to. It just seems so hard sometimes. I know we shouldn't be thinking of how others see us but some days I have to hide away, even from the person I live with, and look after. On those days, as long as the cooking and basic stuff gets done she doesn't seem to notice, but then again with my sister she is the most important person in the world. Really shouldn't have said that but some days when you're struggling yourself a little bit of support can be helpful.

My mum used to say that sarcasm is the lowest form of wit and some days I have a lot of wit.lol

Obviously @Former-Member I don't know what the answer is either. We'll just keep turning up I guess. Bb

Re: Alice in wonder syndome!

I understand where you are coming from @Baileyboy and you helped me to understand that perhaps I felt that way sometimes about caring for others. I have 4 sons although I'm not good at hiding from them and they do have to look after themselves a bit. They are nearly all adult though so it's not too bad. I have lots of days I lock myself away from the world but I guess like you every day I have to put in the brace face for my kids and try and be present for them. Some days are ok some days it's really hard and I'm kind of absent. I think you are doing an amazing job of being carer and dealing with your own issues from a few posts I've read. Best wishes 💜🤗
