Low

Low

I feel like a dream in me has expired and I feel so low. Its taking all my strength and will power to stay composed and get myself to work and stay happy around my kids.

The strategies from the psychologist just arent working this week.

Hello @LittleCherubs14

A very big warm welcome to the forums from myself, I look forward to getting to know you better 🙂

I am so sorry things are particularly hard this week and making you feel so low that sounds really exhausting if it's taken your strength, has something happened to make you unable to use your strategies this week? Perhaps you could implement some self-care instead or simply just have a rest?

We are here for you if you would like to talk things through,

Re: Low

I have just had one thing go wrong after another.

First it was my bday. No present or even cake from my husband. Then he said we had to use the money his mum gave me as a present on food and bills. Then my mum gave me money, I have to use that to fuel my car rather than on me.

Then there are issues at work and then further issues with my husband who keeps going on and on about wanting sex and I have no interest at all and he just makes me feel like a horrible person for saying no.

I'm standing in the bathroom now staring at my antidepressants and migraine medication wondering how much of them it would take to take my pain and anquish away.....

Hi @LittleCherubs14

I was where you're at 24 hours ago. It's a terrible place to be. I'm so sorry your birthday has bought more disappointment than joy. It sounds like lots of things are building up for you. Please hang on. Not all your birthdays will be like this and life won't always be like this. Today has been hard for me but not as hard as yesterday was. Strategies your psychologist will give you don't always work but it's great if they work most of the time. It's ok to feel like you do but please just don't act on it. I know you will probably hate this saying, because I do in times of great distress, but it will pass and you'll find the space to breathe again. Wishing you the very best wishes and strength to hold on. 💜🤗

Hello @LittleCherubs14,

I'm really concerned about you, that sounds like a really horrible place to be in with feeling like a horrible person. You are definitely not a horrible person, you sound like you really care about your husband but they are not reciprocating that. if your partner is not treating you nicely no wonder you don't feel like being intimate with him, have you been able to explain this to him ?

Also when you said you are wanting to take those medications do you mean just to ease your feelings or are you talking about suicide?

We are here for you, please also feel free to call the SANE Help Centre on 1800 18 7263 if you would like to talk to someone today okay, it might hep for now.

Re: Low

I'm ok. I'm still feeling low but I didn't act on my impulse.

I don't feel like my husband understands me and has on numerous occasions told me I don't need my meds.

I'm starting to think he is part of the problem but not sure I have the strength to be a single parent.

Re: Low

Hi @LittleCherubs14.
I'm so glad you held on last night. I'm guessing your husband doesn't understand what is happening for you. A lot of people can't even begin to imagine what it is like. There is stigma around taking medication and seeing a psychologist too that is not helping you. I'm not a medical professional but it seems if your medication is helping you then iis a good reason to continue. If not then maybe discuss it with your GP.
I'm really sorry I can't help much but has your husband been given any of the written fact sheets about what you are experiencing, I'm assuming it's depression but I could be wrong and I'm sorry if I am. For me my family finally started to get it when my mental health team gave them a fact sheet on BPD. They don't get the depression but accept it more readily now.
Im here if you want to post more as I'm sure others will be too. There are lots of us struggling with depression amongst other things and single parents too. I am one of them. If you put an @ in front of my name I'll get a notification that you've posted and can respond a bit easier. Sometimes I'm struggling too and may take a bit to respond.
I really hope you find the strength within like you did last night which was so brave. It's so hard when you feel like that.
Take good care of you and best wishes 💜🤗

Hi @LittleCherubs14

Its so hard trying to be a happy mum! I so get that! I have two kidlets! (5/8) who are so full of energy! When i was really low i remember how hard the struggle was... and also remember when I was getting suggestions from support workers/psychologist that just werent working because i was past them working right then! But those low times did pass thankfully, and i know that they will for you too.

I'm a single mama now. my ex didnt like me being on meds either and there were a lot of other difficulties. Have heard lots of people talk about meds in different ways, but only you know what works best for you, trust yourself. Would probably be a good thing to talk this aspect through with your therapist/gp about whats happening with your partner as well.

Glad you've found the forums, I hope that you find support here,

Take care
