Talking through trauma and PTSD

DID Parts & Feeling Unsupported

DID Parts & Feeling Unsupported

Hi, okay — please bear with me while I try to put my thoughts into words.

I’ve been on the NDIS since 2016 and I’ve always had a psychologist through them. Recently I lost my psychologist because NDIS still doesn’t recognise my Dissociative Identity Disorder as something they can fund treatment for.

(My support coordinator and I have been trying to sort this out for about 18 months now.)

I understand that technically it’s a funding issue and not personal… but emotionally, I feel abandoned. I’m on a pension and can’t afford therapy on my own, and it’s left me feeling lost in the fog.

I’m wondering if anyone else has been through this —

How do you settle your parts when they’re screaming for help?

How do you cope when trauma keeps resurfacing and your brain keeps replaying the abuse?

I feel like I’m trying so hard, but I’m drowning a bit and could really use some guidance from people who understand.

Do you have private health insurance?

I have HBF Flex60 extras only. It provides 60% rebates after the medicare 10 sessions, up to an annual limit of $1000. Which for me is 6.5 sessions

Hi @Cheekychick158 I am wondering f you have good communication between your parts, are there older or more manager type parts that can help the other?

Do you have strategies for when you have intrusive thoughts or flashbacks - even simple things like the 5 senses. eg 5 things you can see, 4 you can hear, 3 you can feel etc
