Still kicking
I haven't been on the site for a little while as I got put into the MHU for my behaviour. If you are on medication its important to take it.
My flatmate was in NZ for a week so I didn't have anyone watching over me to make me take the stuff on time. Anyway someone called the cops on me before I could do any real damage.
I was pretty depressed that I let myself get into that state. I was also pretty depressed that I cant lead a med free life but I am quite practical about the realities of that now. Funny what an up and down life people with MI can lead.
When I was in the acute care unit there was a guy in there who had quite severe schizophrenia and was blind as well. What an inspiration he was.
I took him down to the shops with our nurse escort, and he could manoeuvre around the supermarket isles no problem whatsoever and knew exactly where everything was.
He could ride the bus, something which I usually cannot do. It sure gave me some insight and humility into the relatively easy time I have of it by comparison to him.
We've got into a really smooth system where I ring him up from my place and read the paper and books to him over the phone. So my admission to the MHU had a very positive outcome.
I made a new friend who I can help in a practical way and I got rid of my depression because of it. So I am back to being happy now.
