My Schizophrenia symptoms

My Schizophrenia symptoms

Hi all, i'm currently struggling with my symptoms of hearing voices and worried about people following me when I go shopping or leave the house. I use music for the voices but they don't seem to stop.

Content/trigger warning
I have two voices arguing with one another, one is evil telling me to join them and the other voice is telling me to keep fighting. I'm Gods chosen one that's why this is happening, to prove my loyalty by not giving in to the devils voice.

The music helps a little but they don't seem to go away. I have to take sleeping meds at night so I can actually rest, I just got out of six weeks in rehabilitation from psychosis and using a stimulant drug [edited by moderator]. I'm taking new medications to manage the symptoms.

I've been clean since I was admitted but i'm suffering cravings all the time, I feel like the cravings are with me forever.

I was stable when I got discharged but still heard voices just not as loud. Now they are getting louder so I'm not sure how else to manage it. I'm not sure if it's a mix of medication not working and my symptoms being difficult to manage.

If anyone has any advice they could give me It would be so appreciated.

I'll keep trying to manage for now as best as I can.

Re: My Schizophrenia symptoms

hi there @Moose123 welcome to the forums!

firstly, great work on getting clean. i imagine it's been a hard journey, but i'm proud of you for pushing through and working hard to get better. i'm sorry to hear that the voices have gotten louder, i wonder if the cravings and worry around transitioning back to life after rehab has maybe impacted those voices? do you have a professional you can chat to about this?

i don't have lived experience around hearing voices, but i did want to tag some resources and threads for you to check out in the meantime:

we're glad to have you here, hope some of those resources helps get you started 💙

p.s. i've slightly edited your post to remove the name of the specific drug and added a spoiler tag to help align with our 'limit detailed descriptions' guideline, which you can check out here. pls don't feel discouraged by this, often new members get their posts edited when they start off 😊

@Moose123 My dear suffering friend i know so well what you are saying. i also have been hearing voices like that and experienced such an inner battle of division. There is much i could share.

My voices were very complicated to figure out for i had suffered major trauma in my life, i hope such has not been the case in your life? (i suffer from D.I.D as well as psychosis)

Are you seeing someone about your symptoms? i hope so!

Help can be had. What really helped me overcome the power those voices always had on my life, was me understanding my inner divisions inside needed to be mended in love, and with understanding, not made worse me falling for ever more psychological genocide. As such leads to me loosing ever more good life making the wrong decisions and falling into major depression.

i'll share you an excellent song exploring this very matter.

Re: My Schizophrenia symptoms

Thanks for connecting with me, I'm currently trying to manage my symptoms myself with music and reflective writing of challenging the voices and reminding myself I am safe and it's just my illness.

It's helping although I have booked in to see my psychiatrist to see if I need my medication adjusted and I will see my psychotherapist next week.

I just came on SANE Forums to see if anyone has helpful strategies I may not know of yet.

Thanks for sending me the links, I'll check them out. @rav3n

🙂

Re: My Schizophrenia symptoms

@DownMoreThanUp I appreciate your reply and sharing with me your story, I can imagine D.I.D, trauma, psychosis and voices would be significantly overwhelming. When you hear voices is it your voice or someone else. When I hear voices it's a mix of my voice sometimes and like I said before the evil and good voice fighting in a different voice. When it's my voice I do an inner critic reflection, write down what the voice says, tell myself I am safe, tell myself it's my illness and put music on and do some drawing but it doesn't always work, it's something to help me cope. Sometimes it's a soul shattering experience but I will do what you mentioned and focus also on inner love & understanding. I will pray for your healing and stability and that you will become more up than down. I have the power within in me and am chosen by God to banish my illness.

Thank you for sharing that song, I really resonate with it 100%.

I see my psychiatrist next week who will need to adjust my meds so hopefully I can keep myself stable at home and prevent another visit to rehab as I only just got out.

I have a psychotherapist who I see this Friday also.

I just posted on here to get insights from people that have similar symptoms and seeing if they can share any coping strategies that may help.

Do you have the right support to help you cope with whats happening?

Re: My Schizophrenia symptoms

@Moose123 So good we can share our stories here.

i developed 3 main alters as part of the trauma i suffered as a child hearing voices and having hallucinations of demon like beings, which have continued pestering me till today.

However in my alters i used to be very different selves. Yet my alter voices i did not experience as voices, but much more as my (pesky) brothers, who hated me, and i them, and could take over and deny rulership over my life for ages, always trying to be me.

Especially my religious alter, in this self, I used to hate what I in this (self) alter termed my weasel self, and I hated also my raging alter, calling myself overcome by wrong my sin loving self, preparing my own hell.

But prayerful mindfulness, a technique, God taught me through a psychologist, himself a violent assault survivor, who taught me the techniques to make right caring for myself in all my disunity and fight the evil voices not mine trying to hinder that process.

So yes i have come along way from where i first crashed in a heap. i know hearing voices is scaring but also intriguing and almost impossible to forget, especially when hallucinations are present at the same time. Do you get them a lot?

TW: shares some details around hallucinations and psychosis experiences

@DownMoreThanUp I really appreciate you sharing with me, it's really helping me open up about my experience with you and I don't feel so alone on my journey communicating with you.

Can I ask if you're religious?

Content/trigger warning

I once heard the voice of God saying "I love you" and this was before I was diagnosed with schizophrenia. It changed me to the point where I became a God fearing man and changed my beliefs about christ.

I hope your alters are no longer around.

I just got out of six weeks in rehabilitation after having a drug induced relapse, I was using to escape my symptoms which only made it worse, it threw me into a state of psychosis, patients in the hospital were reading my thoughts and I thought the hospital was a testing facility operated by the government. It was stressful admission and I realise drugs and alcohol only bring on the symptoms stronger. I thought I had people after me as I saw men in black suits looking for me, I was so paranoid. I've been coping better and haven't had drugs or alcohol in 39 days but i am still struggling with cravings, urges and triggers. I am attending groups for support which helps but I have a long difficult road ahead of me.

I've had voices and hallucinations for the past five years, sometimes I see people in my room at night like dark shadows walking around, sometimes I see people walking up my stairs at home and around the house, I thought I was gifted and that I could see spirits but i've been told it's my illness.

I hear voices almost everyday but they decrease and increase in volume at different times.

I have hallucinations frequently and find it interesting, it's like I can see ghost but I have schizophrenia so I just keep it to myself, except for now as i'm sharing my experience with you. 🙂

I am proud of how far you have come and mindfulness works wonders but sometimes for me the symptoms are so overwhelming I can't cope and then I book in to see my doctor and either have my medication dosage changed or try a new medication.

I am am glad you are putting the work in to look after yourself.

Re: My Schizophrenia symptoms

@Moose123 Hi friend i hear you! Been there done all that.

And yes i do believe in God.

Content/trigger warning

He did not only tell me He loved me, He took me into the highest high i ever had. Told me to trust in God's love, because of Jesus crucified, and no longer a god who was angry with me.

So i learned to trust His love, for His love is real not unreal! He does not just say i love you, He loves me saying it.

So out of utter desperation i handed all my addictions to Jesus. And He sorted it all out for me. For He taught me not to heed the demander inside of me, and only ever using anything to thank Him, but NEVER to feel guilty, and i did fall to trust in His grace, and NOT enforce ANY demand fro me to act out of guilt or shame. And so Jesuss taught me to love myself instead of hate myself. Also when i had fallen. So very soon the voice of the demander fell inside of me. It was so good to be FREE. Loving Jesus hates doing anything wrong and makes straight what is crooked otherwise.

For once the 'voice of the demander in me', which always got me into trouble using 'God created goodies', was taken away, and God's love took over, i have had no more trouble with addictions using anything any longer. Which has been most liberating. (Especially with regards to demands of how i had to serve God.)

To be honest my friend i have learned to love Jesus more than my life, but hate religious people stealing the faith of Jesus and captivating us again with lies. Where we become bad when we have a good time, but are good when we are bored and do as they say. And where you can pray to god all day without hearing anything from him let alone find healing or support when unwell.

About my alters. No i did not get rid of them as such. Rather Jesus used mindful love towards myself to merge me back into a sense of one self, instead of many.

Although even though this process has been going on for 9 years now, i still have some friction at times, yet where 'rulership/kingship, which used to be my legalistic religious alter, is right on the bottom of my reality chewing his cud while keeping the 'enemy' back at the rear, qhile me, in my paranoid, once badly hated, and despised self, i now rule beside Christ over my life His 'kingdom of peace.'

Amazing really.

Be of very good courage! putting our trust in the true love of God and stop heeding any voices telling us must do anything but trust Jesus to fix what we cannot or should not even attempt to do on our own.

To learn to love God, myself with true love, and also my neighbour, love rendered the power of my evil voices powerless.

Such is the nature of true love, it changes everything and puts our reality upside down.

As long as we dare to trust Jesus, do not try and do nothing bit be as we are, and let go of bad life/hurting life along the way to be replaced with life in and with Jesus. i will love Jesus forever getting me away from those crappy voices and those horrible addictions and give me my freedom back.

i'll share you a song that i really resonate with, during the time i was still serving a religious God, and had not developed a relationship with the Living Word as i know Jesus to be inside my heart.

i hope this is useful to you.

(the truth i also found to be true serving a religious god are the words spoken before the music start.)

Re: My Schizophrenia symptoms

I was saved by God through this journey and I asked for his forgiveness.

This is why when I heard voices one was God and one was evil.

I'm very religious also and study and read the word of the Lord everyday.

I am blessed.

I notice most of my posts have been edited. I have a lot more to express but I guess this forum is restricted. I will listen the to the song now and thank you.
