Time to set this one free...

The Choice

Benevolent billionaires bestow their blessings
Upon the poor, invisible masses
Sight unseen by those with the power
To rule with no authority

Affluence beyond imagination
Accrued by means best understood
As an extension of the fear
Of being simply worthless

Conflict fuels atrocious profits
A weaponised disparity
Which helps maintain the illusion
That knowledge is a function of wealth

Ignorance disguised as wisdom
The falsest superiority
A culmination of neglect…
The victory of apathy?

Of course, all hope is far from lost
Even on this post-truth path
Every sunrise proffers the choice
Between silence and pandemonium
