I recently found out who was against me doing restoration work on our cemetery. I never thought that it would be my own 2 first cousins. All I wanted to do was care for our ancestors and loved ones buried there. It's torn me up inside that was one of the things that pushed me over the edge. I don't think I could return to community or country 😕 I had to get it off my mind

I am so sorry that you have been upset by your own family members.
I think it is a beautiful thing to look after your ancestors' resting places.
Is there a possibility to talk to your cousins to find out what their problems are?

I can totally understand why you are both upset and angry!
This is a very upsetting situation especially when you have already put so much work in already and it has been recognised by others. Have you been forbidden from continuing? Or can you just carry on regardless of your cousin's wishes?

I hope you can tell the story to enough people and community concern wants the graves restored as to your lovely plan. It seems like a case of Tall Poppy Syndrome where they would rather cut you down than do something decent themselves. Shout louder so your very nice idea is delivered by community support, and sometimes a bad apple can be turned around by including them in the plan. As in get the angriest cousin to do the dirtiest job so he is included and STFU.
