Talking through trauma and PTSD

find voice

find voice

Hello I have complex ptsd. Was diagnosed ASD although I wonder if it's mainly just symptoms of trauma.

I have survived basically on my own my whole life. I only realized such a concept of support even exists and that I am actually disabled. It was taboo to say such a thing as disabled or ask for help.

I cannot speak well because of the pain in throat and chest. This usually leads to further rejection.

Writing a post like this is difficult because of my needing to edit or delete what I say.

I just want connection and feel okay in conversation. I would like to know what my real voice or perspective is and feel okay in group setting.

I need safe environment or kind people. I am finally able to find some right group's I feel. I want so badly to attend some in person since they look perfect for me but cannot afford. I will try some online ones soon.

I hope in coming time I open up more and feel safe to speak.

Thank you.

Re: find voice

Hi @strawberry2,

Thank you so much for this wonderfully vulnerable share. Speaking up and asking for support is such a brave act of self-love. You absolutely deserve people who can be there for you and help to create a safe space as you deepen into who you are.

Please know that you will always be accepted as you are here, and whilst you are allowed to edit your posts as needed, I invite you to leave them as they are and watch how people respond - you might be surprised.

If you'd like, perhaps you could look into our Recovery Club? You can access free, online support groups that are incredibly welcoming, supportive, and non-judgemental. Let me know what you think! https://www.sane.org/recovery-club

Talk soon,

AuntGlow. ✨💛

Re: find voice

Welcome also @Lov , I hope you can also find your voice and acceptance here along with @strawberry2 .

I have chatted a bit with both @Jlol and @Chasingsunsets and found them friendly. 🥰

I can highly recommend the Social Space threads as a way to get to know people in a light way and/or for specific interests (craft, coffee, football, travel, etc). And of course you can also start your own thread about anything you like and see who else is interested too! 🥰
