Frozen brain

Frozen brain

I have just landed the BEST job. I love it. But I'm sooo anxious I can't even compete simple maths. My brain freezes. I'm going to get fired. The employees are showing annoyance. If I fail this I know I'll give up.

Re: Frozen brain

Hello @Pisces1982! (love the username btw),

Welcome to the forums! I am so glad you decided to stop by; I think you'll find a really wonderful community of people here who resonate with what you have shared.

I, for one, completely get the fear of embarking upon an adventure you're so excited about, so much so that your brain goes blank! I find that mine does this when I feel a sense of pressure in a moment where I don't have full confidence in my abilities or understanding of the task at hand. Is this what is coming up for you? If so, I wonder if you are able to let your managers know how much you are loving this role, but still needing a bit more support in getting the hang of it? There is absolutely no shame in asking for more support. In fact, it shows inititative and a desire to learn and grow, (which is all we can really ask of ourselves and others, right?).

I don't think you will fail at this, you're showing great courage by reaching out to us here and that shows me that you are the kind of person who is able to do hard things.

I am looking forward to your reply and seeing how your career evolves - you've got this! 💪💛
