Something’s not right

Not really sure

Not really sure

hello,

literally just found sane and thought I’d give it a try cause at this point I will try anything. So basically, I’m struggling with anxiety and depression, ironically enough once I stopped taking my antidepressants (don’t worry, it was discussed with my doctor) I seem to see things differently and clearer, I don’t know what that’s about but anyways, I’m thinking that it’s sort of a catch 22 situation. I’m also figuring out that I have low self esteem (originating all the way back to when I first started school at 5 years old as all my schooling I was bullied which would be were the self esteem issues come in) which then caused the anxiety and depression. I’m just trying to find a good place to start, I know what I need to do I just don’t necessarily know how to do it.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, welcome to the forums @Laura4.

Firstly, I want to acknowledge how brave you are in coming here and reaching out. It sounds like you’ve been doing a lot of deep thinking and reflecting, and that in itself is an important first step.

You mentioned, "I know what I need to do I just don’t necessarily know how to do it", do you mind sharing a bit more on this? Perhaps we can support you in figuring out the next steps once we know what your goals are?

Re: Not really sure

I was the same, tbh, never wanted to survive. I got real bad with alcohol, I use medicine suggested by my doctor now [edited by moderator], but I go for jobs with regular hours, no surprises, n ask to be a floater, teach me everything so I can just slot in, also jobs that keep mentally challenged as well as physical and enough ppe I have an excuse not to talk for hrs

Welcome @Laura4 , I'm glad you've reached out and I hope we as a community can help you feel supported, valued, important, discover what works for you (there can be some trial and error - and that's where many people's ideas/experiences are also so useful, and hopefully you'll get plenty of them here), and over time see you continue to improve and grow. 😊

I can absolutely understand how bullying - especially from such a young age - can undermine concepts of self-worth and self-esteem. That is rough and no one ever deserves it - including you.

I was bullied for a number of years in primary school, but thankfully once I moved away from that school it didn't happen again. But it still did a lot of damage I think (even though I have very few memories; at the time I certainly had anxiety because I often felt nauseous on a Monday!)

Id love to help you with exploring and finding your self-identity, strengths, self-worth and increasing your self-esteem. 🙂 im really passionate about helping people find and value who they are as an individual.
