But the uncertainty over the future of Healthscope psychiatric and generalist private hospitals and now the closure of the many Ramsay psychology clinics illustrate the precarity of relying on for-profit corporations for essential mental health services. The public sector is currently not adequately resourced to meet all needs, and the standoff over providing public psychiatric services in NSW continues.

I've been doing a few advocacy posts on linkedin about the broader issue and the importance of protecting and growing the value of the NFP sector and its role over purely private services, also lots of conversations around the sector about this. Thanks for the tag @Dimity

I relayed my concerns to my state and federal.mps. The state mp's office told me they've communicated them to the Ministers responsible.

@RachSANECEO I've now had responses from both my state and federal MP's. The latter acknowledged my concerns and said they'd raise the issues with colleagues responsible for mental health, and in Caucus. They agreed with the need for State-Federal partnerships.

No I'm not a peer ambassador @RachSANECEO . Not interested in a media presence. But happy to write letters on things of concern. Mostly environment and social justice, including MH in the latter (I have lived experience and do what little I can to support a family member who has complex mental health and medical and neurological concerns). If SANE has a loose network of people involved in advocacy I'd be happy to help.
