Hey all,

This thread is about how we use art, music, social media, clothes and storytelling to show who we are. We will talk about what it means to control our own image and why it matters that we are seen and heard in our own way.

This is where it’s hard for me. I don’t understand anything. No history no culture. No nothing. Here it’s like the past 65000 years don’t exist.

My mum is a stolen gen and I have basically no information about her I don’t even trust her birth certificate is accurate I have spent a lot of time digging for information

I only know culture from my dad and even then well he’s dead now I have spent time as an adult getting involved in things locally

I am determine though to make sure my kids grow up knowledge and power and today we are going to our first trip to our local cultural centre as a family of 6

  • Jessica Mauboy - she was one of the main singers who made me fall in love with music and singing. her song 'burn' and 'never be the same again' used to play on repeat for me!
  • i can't share her name for anonymity purposes but an ex-coworker of mine is an amazing makeup artist, the work she's done is super cool. i love her creativity and love for the community. she shared with me how hard her upbringing was, and despite everything she went through, she's probably one of the kindest people i've met. she definitely inspired me to share that kindness with others.
