Financial Abuse Magnet

Financial Abuse Magnet

I am turning 53 this year. I have two wonderful children, rather young adults 18 & 19 girl and boy respectively. I consider myself very lucky considering that when I turned 18 I wasn’t the only person who was pleased to be surprised that I’d made it! I have made two past 18 now, you’d think that I’d be living my best life.
Yeah, nah, it’s not the case I’m afraid.
i am tired. Tired of fighting battles that I know I won’t win, feeling obligated honour and morally bound to fight for my children’s rights, fight for my own parental rights and for the involvement in my own children’s lives, their healthcare, education. I fought hard for the access that I have in their lives. Since they were 5 & 6 years of age. It was due to my mental health or the quality of my parenting, the food, my focus on them and the priority I put on their needs. Ohhhh no I didn’t have anyone ever take issue with me or my parenting skills and style. Not until my marriage broke down and I proposed a separation of one year with the potential of this being a trial separation and after the first six months of the separation, all things going well that I would be more than willing to discuss therapy, marriage counseling or whatever other options that might bring the relationship back together.
I was honest and I always am, to my own detriment often. I am no saint and I have never pretended to be one. I have never been a good liar and my poker face is a bit of a joke, I have been lied to and gas lit and manipulated all my life. I don’t lie and I always, nearly always know when I am being lied to.

That said, I am always being ripped off. I know it’s a juxtaposition.

hey @Madmum11 welcome to the forums.

i can see that you've been fighting so hard to be apart of your children's life and that you care about them immensely - i can also see how draining that fight has been. i'm so sorry you've been mistreated by others. i can relate to being as honest as i can, and then having that honesty being taken advantage of and held against me... it sucks that you've had to experience that.

are you getting any support for yourself? is there anyone you can lean on? the forums community is here to listen and support you too 💙

Well to be completely honest, ohh I didn’t even mean that ironically, lol. That’s the reason I’m here. I’m not super into this whole online conversation, support & Telehealth vibe but I am beyond overwhelmed and I am fawning.
I don’t want my mental illness, ridiculously bad luck with insurance providers, fraudulent support workers and support coordinators, friends, relationships, my family of Origin, police, the family law whole fecking thing.
Yeh, nah the negativity is highly contagious, anxiety and depression and low self esteem. It’s not ok for me to be leaking this stuff on my own dear family and the few people who don’t have a problem with me.
Theyre aware of my problems I guess but they have problems if their own. We all have and they’re not exactly ok either. They too need to feel like they can be overwhelmed and struggling,, I would really like to hope that they would ask me for a hand up or to talk about it.
I don’t want to be that person. Always in crises and it’s all always about them, type shit :pile_of_poo: You canne say it how it really is because it makes people sad and scared for you, scared of losing you.
People get burnt out and they give up on you for themselves, you can hardly blame them. I certainly don’t.
