Murphys Law getting me down
Having yet another of those weeks where Murphy's Law is f&^%ing me over. You know the ones, where everything that can go wrong, does go wrong. Only little things, usually (and thankfully!), but enough of them that I just end up hanging my head in defeat.
It seems that something or somebody has it in for me. I know it's just how I feel and don't put too much store in the "fate's out to get me" thing, but it's hard to ignore rationality when I try to do the simplest things and get snookered every which way.
For example, millions of people have phones, their phones work well for the purpose for which they have them. I have phone issues - my phone will send the same message multiple times. Ok, not a huge drama. But who does my phone send the same message to 8 times in 10 minutes? My kids, so it's harmless and we can have a joke about it? No, it sends them to my ex, yes the abusive one who tars me with his own brush and asssumes I'm trying to be vindictive and annoying, so he gets upset with me.So I contact the phone company, who tell me they can find no issue and to spend $500 on an antenna. Can I afford the antenna? No, I can barely afford bread and milk because the abusive ex hasn't paid his child support on time - AGAIN - which means that I have to send him a text letting him know, again, that the money hasn't arrived when it should've, in case the bank's stuffed up or something. Does the phone send that message just once? NO OF COURSE NOT!!! Grrrrrrr!
And these kinds of things happen again and again, around and around in circles, one problem after another. One simple thing turned into a problem and a drama after another. I go to build a fence on my property. Ask for a little help from my son, who gets aggro because the wire roller doesn't roll smoothly, he pulls on random bits of wire and makes it worse. So I send him back to the house to calm down, mind my own business and run wires as best I can now they're all bent. Dogs on a property that starts about 60 mtrs away from my boundary start barking. A guy comes out and doesn't even say hello or anything, just glares at me, demands to know what I'm doing (cos all the fencing gear and pliers in my hand aren't clue enough), to which I reply "fencing my block" and he glares again and stomps away. Sigh, another unfriendly neighbour (had one a year ago who reckoned my dogs were attacking his chooks, so threatened to skin the dogs, shoot my sheep, burn my house down and get his missus to beat the sh*t out of me. Nice guy.) So I finish what I'm doing, head back to the house, and a stick jabs into my heel, peeling off a big chunk of skin and hurting like heck. Sigh. Get back home, time to cook dinner. Can't cook dinner cos teen whose job it is to do dishes has sat on his lazy butt playing on the computer all day and the kitchen's a mess. Sigh. So he goes to load the dishwasher, and finds that there's too much water in the bottom of the dishwasher, something's blocked up. Sigh, another thing to fix up.
Yeah, on the surface it's all trivial stuff, and I try to remember that. But when there's nothing that ever just runs nice and smooth and as it should, when every single thing I try to do causes yet another problem, it really starts to be so very tiring that all I want to do is go sleep in the hope that nothing else will go wrong. Hard to get motivated when I know that one simple thing will turn into 5 problematic things.
Anyway, if anybody knows a way to get Fate to f*&k off and leave me alone to do what I've gotta do, please let me know!
