My son cut contact

My son cut contact

After a psychotic episode I was hospitalized I felt ignored by my adult children I lived with. After 3 weeks in hospital with 1 visit I asked them to move out. Once home I had an empty nest. I was a single parent for 20 years and regretted my harsh decision. 3 months later after seeing a psychiatrist I was diagnosed with Bipolar 1 disorder at 51 years old. I have emailed my son apologied but he has made no contact in 6 months. My daughter and I have talked about it and she understands I was very unwell and can see the work I've done to get better. I've spoken to psychologist and she said I need to give him space. No contact is breaking my heart does it get better.

Re: My son cut contact

I hear how hard this is for you @51newBD . It sounds like you did your best at that time. We have all made mistakes and we hope that one day, your son will be able to see that and reconnect with you.

When I was unwell, I absolutely disconnected from my family. I did not speak to them for years...

But when I was better, our relationship improved.

There is hope.
