Tougher adjusting to medication and then forgetting to take it

Tougher adjusting to medication and then forgetting to take it

Hey there

Have started new meds a few weeks ago to help with sleeping and the night terrors.
Going along well, but also noticed that as soon as I didn’t have it for 1 night, things turned bad. Yelling and swearing in my sleep and terrified my wife, who had to wake me up. Saying things which I would never say when awake. Threatening unseen people from my past. But just went back to sleep quickly she said.
We spoke about it this morning and felt ashamed of what I said. Shows that my meds work, but also the pitfalls of forgetting to pack them in when travelling. I get sick of being rejected by other Drs who think I am

shopping around to get meds - when all I want is the same medications and the same level of sleep.
It’s a tough one (but also my own fault for not packing in the correct meds).

Hey @Breakfast68, thank you for sharing your experiences with the community!

It takes courage to talk about our experiences and challenges, and you are demonstrating that you are brave and resilient by reaching out to your peers. It sounds like your wife is supportive and that is heartwarming to hear that she talked about your experience with you.

I have had some issues with medications, either running out or not taking them with me, which can create a challenging situation. It's hard to ask a doctor whom you don't see regularly to write a script for medications that are not something they readily hand out. It's really brave and demonstrates the commitment you have to your recovery to do it!

Great to hear your story and see you sharing with your peers!

Take care
