Medical rejection

Medical rejection

I’m feeling like I wanna give up on everything bc what’s the point of trying to seek help if people like psychiatrists and psychologists deem you too hard of a patient as soon as they read past and current history of SH, ideation and attempts. Like that patient obvs reached out bc they need to get out of whether their heads at and need someone to help trial meds.

I have a psychologist, she’s in a GP practice so my surroundings are not mentally comfortable and I can’t concentrate desire her being nice and finally not turning me away.
I’ve been trying to find elsewhere that I would be more comfortable but as soon as mental care plan says anything like SH, ideation, attempts… why
even be in the job if you’re gonna reject every difficult patient.
SH isn’t a choice, more times then not attempts are from triggers and episodes happen. It’s barely even consciously done and they as professionals don’t even know the mental torture after we we realise we ffffff up. It’s like my brain is dancing in triumph like ‘haha I won and you’re weak’ and then another side is punishing for being weak so the cycle continues over and over and physically can’t be stopped. But it really can’t be stopped bc seeking help is instantly ceased bc we’re deemed too difficult.

How is it even possible to get help if difficult patients is no one’s specialty.

Even confiding in my GP who is amazing but yet is terrifying in itself. Like if I say the wrong thing or I say something in my mind bc I’m fed up or give an honest answer then it’s a threat to be sectioned and hearing that just puts me in flight mode instantly.
My fkkkn brain is bursting with sht I can’t say aloud bc of consequences. Being born into this mental torture and being punished for saying what I feel is just abuse of power and even just existing in my own self destructive world in punishment. I just want help. I just want the proper care as would a regular depressed and anxious person would receive. Like why can’t anyone look beyond stitches, scars and number or hospital admissions. It doesn’t define who I am.

I understand the safety part and I get the regulations but it isn’t fair bc I deserve help just as much as anyone just with the added BPD. If only they truly understood torture

tossed around in my head and bc everything I’ve been through, having to learn to keep it in bc of medical punishment is mentally agonising.

I just want a psychiatrist that will want to focus on BPD and the other crazy diagnosis that I have on my list of crazy! All this better suited elsewhere shhhyyyytt from supposed top psychs just makes people like me feel so unhelpable and wanna quit everyone and everything and living too. I feel that’s what the medical professionals want. They want less of us to go around so they can just focus on the normal depression and anxiety and get paid so much per session with their easy patients.

Lately I’ve noticed that people like me are just a nuisance to health care in general and people can’t or don’t want to deal with us. The professionals act like we chose this life and we choose to do the bullst that we do.
Having no proper help is terrifying every single day and I’m tired of being scared and I’m tired of being tired.

I do have a psychiatrist but he said straight up DBT isn’t for me and recommended RODBT like wtf is that?!?! It’s so new there’s barely any research behind it.. and he doesn’t want to experiment with meds bc I’ve tried a few that didn’t work so basically in his head I’ve tried it all. He’s youngish and good looking but no brains behind his eyeballs. I took myself off the ones that were useless and cancelled future appointments. There’s so much more available and he doesn’t want to try so what’s the point. I’d rather suffer not having my ADHD meds bc it’s not like I’ll get the increase I need anyway. And his lack of communication to pharmacists like even I know was negligence telling them to stop the wrong meds we spoke about in person and he took notes too. But three painstaking weeks later to get ahold of him for that wrong communication is a joke. Same day calling to inform them was a lie in my measly 10minute very first OutPatient appointment… better keep my money and have no one bc it doesn’t matter how hard I try to find someone new, it’s just rejection after rejection and I’m fknnnnn tireeeeed and I’m really done. Like I’m fully done now 😓

I’m at that stage in my brain where time isn’t a thing despite holding down full time work, dates are surprising especially after realising daylight savings was almost a week ago and I had no clue. I’m running on autopilot bc I have no more energy left to give..

I’m sure this will get taken down. It doesn’t make sense but it makes sense to me. Don’t know why but whatever if it does. I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s in this position or feeling like this. It’s just a physical, mental and emotional battle against myself all day every day. But whatever at least I have my dogs with me rn. and if this here taken down I apologise for breaching nothing but you guys are in charge 🤷🏻‍♀️

Re: Medical rejection

@Din1 i completely understand your frustration. I've tried so hard to get help but have been let down by professionals and services time and time again. I've been put in the too hard basket, I have a list of diagnosis and finding someone who understands them all seems impossible. Medications aren't an option for me so it's a struggle to manage thoughts, feelings and emotions.

The SH bit hit hard the way you explained it, the not being aware of it and the brain celebrating it like a triumph, then the punishment after you realise what you have done. It's a never ending cycle. People really do look at and treat you differently when you have scars and when you've made those suicide attempts. Noone seems to stop and think about the pain a person must be in to want to take their own life.

Anyway I could go on but I won't. I can relate so much to everything you have said. Please know that you are not alone in this and how you are feeling, we are here for you. I really hope you can find someone that will listen and help cos you deserve that, you deserve to be supported to get through this. I'm always around if you want or need to chat, take care of yourself ❤️

Re: Medical rejection

Well written and explained.
But the reality Is different than the first response.

You ARE alone. You know it. Telling you otherwise is just like RUOK day.. nonsense. Once you answer RUOK “No” that’s the end of the fff conversation.

i hope you find support here.. because it seems impossible out there.. unless you have a loved-one helping you.

Re: Medical rejection

Hello @Rainbows-HaHa. It can be very hard feeling alone when going through mental health struggles. But here is a safe space for everyone and a place where we hope that noone feels alone. Sharing our stories and being able to make connections with others that have or are walking similar paths can really help in our journey to recovery.

I hope you can find some support here aswell. Whilst we might feel/be alone in the real world, there's a whole community of support here on the forums.

Hope you have a good day 😊

Re: Medical rejection

@Din1 i relate. I don't have any magic advice, but I get it, it's so hard and I'm sorry.

I was soooooooo lucky, I eventually found the right professional. Not everyone has that chance. I really hope you are able to get that person who believes in you and willing to do the hard yards.

I look at my history, my scars are so in your face, no one would go near me. The hospital stopped allowing me to speak to the crisis team when I was brought in by ambos and police. It was to the point some drs there wouldn't give stitches because it was 'enabling' and they wouldnt treat attempts.

So much for a medical system.

What started to help me was the ndis, and my Positive Behaviour Specialist. She met me where I was at, she gave a shit, she didn't see me in the too hard category and was gentle and supportive. I've had her nearly 4 years, the longest time someone has ever stuck around.

I understand not everyone gets access to the ndis. I hope you can find someone willing to support you. No one, ever, is beyond help and support. You deserve support, kindness, respect.

@Rainbows-HaHa it can feel like. We might be alone physically but there are people out there who get it, we sit with each in this virtual place and even though it's just a digital platform, there are people who care here and understand.

@The-red-centaur

My previous post was on suture rejection bc medical power always wins and it leaves a painful hole of sever injustice in my chest.. [edited by moderator] I know it’s not safe but whatever I don’t deserve sever scars as tough love either… and anyways it’s worse having someone use their so called years of training as a punishment but justify it as not encouraging us. Nothing encourages anything it’s our fknnn heads just taking charge and not letting up. I hate it so much I hate this whole long haul shittty situation like some people are strong to fight but I don’t think I’m one of them.
It’s what they want anyway. They want less of us. So not wanting to encourage behaviour which was what I was also told also, well my head reads it as if they don’t treat us they’ll potentially never have to see us again forever. It’s a sick way of encouragement but they’ll always win.

I got offered NDIS in pecc and they were gonna help me but my impulsiveness and PTSD took over and I said no and I’m hating myself on that too. I know how helpful they can be but I also know it’s impossible to even get now with no team to provide all the documents. All I do is make the wrong choices and realise after it’s too late.

I’m beyond happy for you that you have just good support. Bc there needs to be more people like us having that support and I’m so glad you are one of them. Genuinely!

I have Safe Haven, it’s my only safe space but I swear even they can only put up with so much crap from me until they’re gonna reach their limit and it scares me that I’ll lose my safety.

I hate this so much I know I said it but fk!! I hate always being in pain, and I hate the damage I’ve done to the point where I’ve lost sensations in places. It’s scary and it’s even scarier that it’s uncontrollable.

I know I’m being so negative and repetitive but in every sense of the word tired and done, that’s what I am right now bc there’s no light, some people have it but when you know you know and I know it’s darkness only and always.

@Rainbows-HaHa I know I’m alone. I feel alone even when I’m not alone. I know no one cares, and I’m usually a rational person and i understand people and their expressions even the slightest i understand, always have been able to. And so far I’ve not come across anyone genuine enough to care. Not even my GP as amazing as she is she doesn’t care it’s her job support and refer and possibly stitch. At the end of the day it’s all $$$ to everyone even your caring team. For majority if it’s not $$$ it’s no genuine give a ffk for none of us. I already know that. Within this virtual community we all care here bc we live it daily.

I get where you’re coming from and this is all still new to me the seeking help part. Like it’s not even been 2 years so I’m used to dealing on my own. I’m not used to the seeking help part and facing rejection. My gut all my life was right to stay away… Before even being confirmed with diagnosis I already knew but wasn’t going to ask for it. Through pecc and the system I got diagnosed but had to act surprised. Bc when it’s not real you don’t have to acknowledge that living with mental torture is not normal.
anyway I’m sorry guys I’ll shut up now.

just at my wits end and hopefully time will come where my wits end will really fkn end… I apologise if I triggered anyone it wasn’t my intention. No one else gets it so I live my life with my mouth shut but screaming inside. I’m sorry. I’ll stop now. Thank you guys for listening.
I didn’t realise how amazing strangers can be.
apologies again. I didn’t know where to turn to 😞😞

Re: Medical rejection

Thank you to all that has welcomed my mental drama in this space and validated my stupid ranting. It feels weird that I just raved on to a whole bunch of strangers and didn’t make a whole lot of sense but yet ya’ll understood what I meant.

I totally understand that no one cares and its isolating and invalidating even just talking to a friend that wouldn’t have a clue so therefore my initiation for help or even worry isn’t there anymore. I fully get that I am alone and after my rant I was like yeah fk it from now on.

I have this one support group that I attend but don't really participate in chatter anymore like I used to and isolate but I only go there so I can avoid behaviours or delay them. I don’t even believe they care despite showing they do. I don’t trust anyone anymore and I just put my wall up with the workers now. Again just using the space for avoidance but also met some mates here so that’s the only plus.

I’m so sorry if I have triggered anyone in any way as I have breached some statements made on my last post. So apologies again I didn’t mean to.

Re: Medical rejection

Hey @Din1 ,

I hear your struggles. As isolating as it may feel, you may be suprised that you are not alone in navigating the system.

I hear what you mean by feeling like it's our fault we have a MH condition. I often consider how differently visible and invisible conditions are seen by others. No one would say to a paraplegic, "It's all in your head"... right? Or maybe they do, and I don't know about it?

I just want you to know that your experiences are real and your feelings are valid.

We are here to walk with you and support you along the way.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
