At a complete loss

At a complete loss

So. Since last year I thought things were starting to look up but after November things just seem to be getting worse for me. My contract for the job I was really enjoying ended abruptly and now I'm faced with the frustration of having to find somewhere new to work if I am to continue working and living in the city or end up having to live with my parents again. And at 30 years old it's a horrible choice for me especially when I worked so hard to leave my parents home. Despite feeling like I've hardly done much and wasted ten years of my life just trying to get my start as film maker/ photographer. I feel I've lost so many friends and contacts and never feel like I'm been appreciated. I just feel like people only care about what I can do for them not about me. Everything just feels hopeless

Re: At a complete loss

hey @Shirazchurch

it sucks that your contract ended, especially when you were enjoying the role. and the job market has been quite rough, and the economy we live in sucks - many of my family friends who also worked hard to move out have also had to move back in with their parents this last year, so i can hear how tough that choice must be on you. plus the filmmaker/photography industry can be quite hard to find opportunities in so please don't be so hard on yourself - you're trying your best and that's what matters.

i'm so sorry you haven't felt appreciated and cared for, you absolutely deserve to be seen. the community here cares about you so please know we're always here to listen.

i know things have been rough recently, but that doesn't mean that everything you've learnt and experienced in the last decade was a waste - maybe it feels like one now, but i'm guessing you developed a lot of skills, gained a lot of knowledge, figured out some likes/dislikes - and all this experience is going to be helpful when you move forward in any aspect of your life. if you learned something, it's not a waste in my opinion.

i hope things get brighter for you 💙

@Shirazchurch !!!! I've missed you! I'm being deadly serious, I was only thinking to message you 2 days ago. I have your name in a notebook of mine and I was flipping through the notebook the other day and said "Oh! I need to message @Shirazchurch !"

I'm so glad you posted.

Thank you for the update.

I hear how stressful it is with your work/lack of work.

Would you consider a side hussle? Like your own photography business? It's really expanding in that area.

Re: At a complete loss

Thank you for the replies. I've tried doing some photo work in the past but it almost never goes anywhere. But there has been some video work I have been able to do. Now the only issue I have to deal with at the moment is my social life just crumbling I feel like it's getting harder to talk to people and I've missed out on so much. Being unemployed and not able to go out surly doesn't help either.
