SAYING HI AND HOW'S OTHERS GOING

SAYING HI AND HOW'S OTHERS GOING

Hi @Jynx @Shaz51

It's been few days...

How are you guys?

I'm going okay, I unblocked a certain person with terrible results. Lesson learned. Saw a counsellor. She was amazing. I'm now a lot more committed to my path, although I was never going to go back ever. I'm eating more healthily, starting to exercise again, and play with my art materials lol. I have a lead on possible accommodation to follow up with, but I'm still with some of my family. Every day I'm going forward but sometimes I feel a bit down.

Hope to hear from you lovely folk.

If anyone out there on SANE wants to comment on how dv affects your self esteem, feel free. Been going through a bit of stuff.

Cheers, Alice10.

Hello @Alice10. I'm glad to hear that you are going ok. Lesson learnt on unblocking someone, hey we are human and we learn from our mistakes. It sounds like things are going well moving forward and you are doing things to take care of yourself which is amazing so well done. It's completely normal to have times when we feel down, healing takes time.

Dv greatly affects your self esteem. Depending on the situation perpetrators often put down their victims making them feel insecure about themselves. It leaves you questioning everything, your self worth, your decision making, your abilities to cope alone. I've been through many Dv relationships and I struggle so much with many aspects of my self esteem.

Keep working on yourself, you are doing great 😊

Hey @MissGremlin thanks for the reply. You know, I would've said I'm the last person to be in a dv situation but there I was and here I am. You know, I hope that we both find respectful partners at some point. I wish that for you (if that's your wish) because it's a very hard road to experience dv.... just wanted to say that. And we deserve kindness.

Yes, am moving forward but it's a very interesting time, because before I was with "the person", I was suffering with my mental health. And before that was quite awhile ago I suppose. So I haven't been on my own and mentally well (simultaneously) for years. I'm grateful to be well, but because my thought processes are clear, being alone is scarier. Anyway, thanks for listening. Hope you have a wonderful Saturday Dreamy. You go well ok? From, Alice.

Re: SAYING HI AND HOW'S OTHERS GOING

@Alice10 I'm very much done with partners and I'll never enter into another relationship again. But that's my choice I've been hurt by too many people so it's better for me to stay alone. I've been alone for 7 years now although still not quite out of the Dv situation but that's a whole different story. I've struggled with my mental health my entire life and at the moment it's at a critical point once again. Being alone can be scary and for ages I questioned myself and believed that I couldn't do it but here I am 7 years of being alone and I've been doing it. I hope things continue to improve for you, you deserve happiness and peace ❤️.

Hi 👋🏼 @Alice10 @MissGremlin boundries has been the hardest lesson to learn.

The lesson: Stop People Pleasing and don’t accept what is not good enough.

If I do the same old thing. the same old thing is going to happen.
My trauma responses have not served me well.

Recently these people pleasing bad habits of mine, have well and truly bitten me on the backside, like a rabid dog.

I don’t need to do things so other people like me.

I need to do things so like my life.

That’s all I know.

Hello @Glisten, it's very hard to learn setting boundaries. You definitely don't need to do things so other people like you, you are amazing just the way you are ♥️.

@MissGremlin thank you so much for your support. Validation is helpful to me because of the years of gaslighting. Learning to trust myself, while making behavioural changes, . . . it feels like sand is shifting under my feet. But it’s not, it’s unfamiliar.

A friend of mine died suddenly a year ago. I’m going to house and dog sit for her daughter. We had coffee this morning.

…. Forgot what I was going to say because a 28 parrot 🦜 just slammed into the glass doors - twice.

It’s sitting.

@Glisten it's a hard thing to change those behaviours. But you are strong and you have come so far already. Super proud of you ♥️.

Sorry to hear about your friend but I'm glad you still have a connection with her daughter. Hope the house and dog sitting goes well.

Oh poor parrot, hope they will be ok.

Hugs @Glisten ,

Hope you and your parrot are okay!

It seems that grief is a common theme lately. I'm going to a funeral on Wednesday. This was an elderly neighbour I spent a lot of time with. We just chatted and I visited him often because he was so lonely after the passing of his wife. I would drop him food, I'd call him every week. He was in his 90s and passed away a few days ago.

I'll be speaking at his funeral service.
