Managing thoughts of suicide & self-harm

What's the point anymore?

What's the point anymore?

What is one supposed to do when life keeps kicking you down? It's just one bad thing after another and I'm not able to catch my breath in between things. I've had enough of fighting a losing battle, I'm exhausted and I've lost all hope. Everyday I fight thoughts of suicide, constantly trying to distract myself and not lose control. But for what, another day of bad things happening, another day of being abused, another day of living in hell. I've had enough and I don't see a point anymore.

What do you do when you've tried everything to get support? When you try every service possible but not one of them can or will help you. I ring places to get support and I'm told someone will ring me back but they never do. I don't feel like I'm worth helping, like I don't matter to anyone, like I'm not supposed to be here.

I'm barely hanging on, I'm hanging by a thread but that thread is fraying and I don't know how much longer it's going to keep holding me.

I'm hurt, frustrated, scared, sad, angry. I'm truly broken and I'm not sure there's anyway of fixing myself. There's too many pieces to put back together and I don't have the strength in me anymore.

Re: What's the point anymore?

I'm sorry you're going through this, I have been through that myself. If you are tired, then rest, but don't give up. Don't look at all the pieces in one pile, just focus on a piece at a time. I'd go crazy looking at the entire shitshow that I'm going through at the moment, I I break it down into digestible bits. I first look at what I can work on and what is out of my control. If I can't control something then I have to accept it as it is, no amount of worrying is going to change that thing. If I find myself getting anxious and worked up over something, I'll sit with the issue and remind myself of what the facts are and dismiss the bits that I'm filling in for myself. In regards to tasks, I prioritise the most urgent things first, the individual aspects such as basic self care, those that rely on me (my cat), managing finances, my living conditions. Try to focus on what steps you've done, rather than on where you think you're failing, every step you take is a step towards winning the battle, no matter how small the step. Distraction, as comforting as it is, doesn't help you climb out of the pit of despair, I used to play my Xbox to escape, sure it helped me forget my problems whilst I played, but when I returned to the real world all the issues, all the problems were still there, and they hadn't gotten any better. Please remember to love yourself, accept who you are, we've all done things we regret, made mistakes, but remember if we do it once it's a mistake, if we do it twice it was a choice. I hate to say this but if we can't rely on ourselves who can we rely on? so make sure you're there for yourself, not feeling loved? well show yourself love and kindness, show yourself compassion, forgive yourself as you would forgive others, help yourself as you would help others, be understanding to yourself as if you were being understanding to a friend or loved one, because you are your own friend and loved one as well. Try not to feel guilty about putting yourself first, you can't fill another's cup if your own is empty.

I'm so sorry about this reply being long winded, I tend to give advice that I should listen to myself.

@Former-Member thankyou for your reply. Sorry I can't really respond much at the moment as my head is a mess but I really do appreciate you taking the time to read my post.

You're welcome, you know what your body needs during these times, you know what you can and can't do, so don't apologise for being you and doing the best you can. I hope my reply has helped, and let you know that you're not alone, and that other's have had similiar experiences and are happy to share, comfort and help however they can.

@Former-Member it's nice to know I'm not alone. I've been reading along with your posts recently aswell and I've wanted to reply but just haven't had it in me to put things into words.

But please know that I'm so glad you are still here and you are also not alone. I'm always happy to have a chat with you if you need/want to. Sending you lots of strength to get through these hard times ❤️

@MissGremlin @Former-Member

Sending strength and love to you both from another suicide survivor. I know you can get through this. It is incredibly hard when we feel like everything is against us and we don’t see the point anymore but we have to keep fighting. If you don’t have any fight left please admit yourself to hospital so you can rest in a safe place.
