Got a new job (potentially). If I can do that, anyone can.

Got a new job (potentially). If I can do that, anyone can.

So I have been offered a new role in my sector but also with the ability to develop my skills more in a new capacity.

If I pass the checks then I will accept on the condition that the conditions and the leave entitlements are fleshed out a bit more. It's an online job so I will look to hire out a space as well as I can't WFH 100% of the time or else I'd go mad. And I can work ANYWHERE - even a library if I wanted to.

Atm it is still early days.

I am so over my current role and my partner has been very supportive (and I have been to her as well). This has also come at the time when I've noticed certain enviousness, sarcastic remarks and off the cuff comments towards me about my work ethic (Case in point the other day a colleague suggested that I didn't do anything, to which I came back to her and said 'i emailed you something'... she was silent because I called her out on it). Managers get very touchy about small things, including the director who had a go at us all when we had grounds for a pay rise. I've been gaslit so many times about small things from management (usually a sign that they have no idea whats happening above them and they are also under the pump, which in my opinion is not grounds to treat people like garbage). It is a long, shift driven role in which we see a lot of horrible things but I have become desensitised to it - which is good. But in a way I was already desensitized to the world due in large part to my sister's ill health when I was younger. As life goes on I've always seen and known that. Maybe what was different this time was the lack of time away from it - given the hours were long and close together.

In the end, if I am offered this role then I hope to at least move on from this role. There have been good people to work with and crap people. This exists everywhere and I can't fall into the trap of thinking that "this will be the best team ever" or some high school level crap like that. I'm far more mature than that. Anyway, on that note the reason I am posting this is because I know that I will at least find myself somewhere in life that once upon a time I never thought I could - right where I am now.

I've come a long way. If I can do it, then anyway can let me tell you.

Peace all.

Wow, wish I wasn't so sensitive to so many things.
My working life is probably defunct.
I mostly worked for myself in the end anyway as most employers wanted everything for next to nothing and really couldn't care less about my needs,
Other workers' nastiness gets too much for me too.
Little or no opportunities here too with my skills and life experience.
Good on you!!!

You betcha @MDT you have come a long way.

Congrats on seeing your workplace with clear eyes.

Pity about all the crap people and experiences out there… but not to let it rock our boats seems to be the challenge.

go Hams

cheers apple

Congratulations @MDT . I hope you can get everything you need sorted and have a much better time in your new role. WFH/remote is awesome when you can get it.

Thanks for sharing too because it gives me some hope. I am a couple of months into my job hunt, officially unemployed from my one day a week gig on Monday, only one interview so far (but a lot more applications) and between labour involved in applying and ghosting, it's been disheartening. So reading a success story is good.

Take care and best of luck.
