Something’s not right

Wrong diagnosis

Wrong diagnosis

Not sure whether others have experienced this but I was finally given a primary diagnosis of SchizoAffective Disorder a few months back but the mental health professionals at hospitals near me refuse to go with that label. As I have self harmed in the past they stick with EUPD or BPD so I get turned away from hospital when in a crisis with voices and have been taken off all medication as they feel it is not helpful.

As I have command hallucinations it makes me very unsafe. How do I change their poor treatment of me to keep myself safe?

welcome to the forums!! @Freddo1973

that sounds incredibly invalidating, i'm so sorry you've had to deal with that. your safety is super important and i'm really glad you've reached out to prioritise that. unfortunately i don't have much experience around misdiagnoses but i've found some resources that might help:

if you're feeling unsafe, please don't hesitate to call 000. there's also crisis supports available for free here:

do you have a safety plan? if not, i strongly encourage making one - you can even use the Beyond Now Safety Planning tool to help out.

we see you and we're here for you. 💙
