@Dk5

I have found it best to post on the forum in a range of ways.

For me there are far more options than positive or negative.

We can't be always sure of the response but there are a lot of good people around.

These days there are more staff who do a stellar job but the freedom of many to respond make it a genuine peer space.

I love the image of a liquorice Allsorts. Sweet, salty, black, colourful. My day hasn't been too bad but I do have chronic pain... Still mildly optimistic.

What is going on for you?

Re: Mental health

Watching TV waiting for a support worker to turn up no idea what to day my condition stops me from saying what I feel it always gets in the way the i can't say what's on my mind. It's so difficult. In my head sounds good "I'll say that" see the person mind has already shifted and I'm saying something else

Re: Mental health

Hi,

can I ask a few more questions about that so I can give you a more focussed response?

Do you mean talking to people on here as in peers? Or do you mean in person,

people you know or professionals you have chosen to get in touch with?
if it’s the later, then the person who referred you may have given a summary of what you have shared with them.
In my experience, I’m already anxious of what to say but more so what they might think. A good professional is used to these initial potential awkward moments. A lot of the time I don’t even know how I’m feeling because my mind is not ready to reveal something that potential will upset me if I admit it out loud.
Truth is it’s already making me physically and emotionally very distressed 😫 so the inevitable comes as a relief. My mind has already thought through so many scenarios about this conversation that I have already suffered through without having any assurance about the actual outcome. Truth is it’s an unknown commodity and it’s that fear I don’t like.
I have even started off by saying “I actually don’t know what I am trying to say”. I just put that out there. Done.
I feel you

Re: Mental health

For a long time I had no feelings words vocab... And actually pretty skittish about the "how are you feeling?" Question. I would lapse in to silence or frenzied activity... Getting things done one way or another...!?!? Physical movement helped me a lot.

@Dk5

Hope you have a decent session with your support worker

@Dk5 Today has been alright. Enuff good stuff to keep the bad stuff at bay.

I have a support worker for a 3 hour shift every fortnight. She is a good one.
