MY BOYFRIEND IS A ALCOHOLIC

MY BOYFRIEND IS A ALCOHOLIC

7 years gone. What started well descended into daily alcohol-fueled rages, constant arguments, surveillance, and verbal abuse. He refuses help, gaslights me, and plays the victim, never taking responsibility. He constantly accuses me of cheating, using recorders in our home and car to monitor my every move, and has even hacked my social media to impersonate me.He will spend his last couple of dollars to get alcohol even used my credit card to get it without my knowledge. He drinks a bottle by himself every day. I'm drained and at my breaking point. The mental abuse is the worst he uses private information that i trusted him with against me to attach and make fun of struggles i have shared with him. Anyone else experienced this level of control and invasion of privacy from a alcoholic partner? How did you find the strength to leave? And should i continue to try help even if he's not receptive? i don't want to turn my back on anyone in need. This is my first time dealing with any a alcoholic truth is i dont no how to help.

heya @INDUETIME welcome to the forums!!

i can hear how overwhelmed and drained you are by this situation, i'm so sorry you've had to deal with this abuse. it shows a lot of strength that you've reached out here, and i strongly encourage you to reach out to 1800 RESPECT. they're available 24/7 to provide you with support around domestic violence and abuse, and they help you make safety plans and can connect you to other support services too.

are you able to get any self-care in? it's really important that you get some time, even if its 2 mins, to do something that recharges your energy, especially when his behaviours can be draining to deal with.

you don't deserve to go through this alone. we're here for you.

Re: MY BOYFRIEND IS A ALCOHOLIC

Im in a similar situation but things have changed my husband gave up alcohol after my son begged him to stop. I'm now living with someone whose not physically abusive but I think he gas lights me. and I no longer recognise him as he lost his job. I have no self esteem and feel utterly depressed as a lot of my friendships have shattered because of him. I feel I can't tell you what to do as with me in my mind I say run from my husband but I'm frozen if that makes any sense. Always up for a chat❤️
