Anxiety

Anxiety

Not sure if I should be posting under ‘Our Stories’ (no category for ‘Anxiety’?) but here goes. I have a long back story of speaking to professionals and taking pills but let’s skip that for I have, for now at least, just one question. I experience anxiety via a tightness that centres in my stomach and chest. I also feel it my jaw which can get painfully sore. I also feel an accompanying depression and loss of drive which is debilitating. If I had an off-switch I would flick it but I can’t do that because my family depends on me. Here’s the quandary. I can be feeling like that but if, say, an unexpected visitor calls, I’m immediately ok. Quick-witted, fun to be around, just about an alpha-male. The same goes when I’m out for dinner or visiting friends. Even getting absorbed in a gripping TV show, or doing rote work like mowing the lawn calms me down. The anxiety only cripples me during quiet times which are more likely in the evening and of course at night, when I depend on medications [edited by moderator]. So here’s my question: Does anyone else experience anxiety like I do? A physical tension in the body that can be instantly swept away when engaged only to just as quickly return when the times become quiet.

Re: Anxiety

I can't say for certain that this is going to help but if your posture isn't right (looking at phones and screens) you can get severe anxiety from thoracic outlet syndrome. It pushes your collarbone into your first rib and compresses very important things. If you get no answers youtube a c1 mobility video and see if that helps

That’s a new one for me. Thanks.

Re: Anxiety

Great insight! Posture can definitely impact anxiety—trying C1 mobility exercises sounds like a helpful idea.
