Managing thoughts of suicide & self-harm

URGENT Crisis support failing

URGENT Crisis support failing

Advice on steps to take..

my mother in law suffers from schizophrenia and has been very unwell the past 2 years. Dr changed medication and now having suspicions shes ceased medication all together.

Theres been multiple threats of suicide and very erratic and dangerous behaviour. Driving 15-20hrs up and down the coast without sleep for days, went missing and car was found abandoned in the middle of a city. Severe paranoia of family trying to poison her and people breaking in and drugging her. The list goes on and she is really not okay..

Content/trigger warning
last night she called my husband and had plans that she was going to carry out [edited by moderator] and was going to say goodbye.

We contacted authorities and she was taken to hospital, after a few hours they released her. This is the third time its happened and no one is taking it seriously. This time the intent was there and actions had been taken -[edited by moderator]

its getting more serious and she is pushing everyone in the family away. What are the next steps we can take to get her the help she needs? He does not have POA and she wont sign it over - we can start a court proceeding but it doesnt feel like we have the time to wait. She is very good at acting as if shes okay

The system is absolutely failing us in every direction.

Hey @bronteblain, thank you for sharing your experiences with the Forums!

It sounds like you are going through a tough time right now with your mother in law. You are demonstrating that you really care for her by reaching out to your peers here in the community. And it can be really challenging supporting someone who does not want to be supported.

I encourage you to continue to share your experiences with the community and hear insights from your peers.

Take care
