Any neurodivergents get it?

Any neurodivergents get it?

I have been trying to get support to leave fdv since last year. I spent 14 weeks in hospital trying to tell anyone this was a harmful environment and I wouldn't get the care I need. I was terrified. I have been in this environment since November I was told that they were escalating after something's happened last couple weeks I called today. No answers, no timeframes, just sorry we are trying and know you are not alone and deserve safety and support.

Now I get the trying I'm not ignorant or ungrateful but my brain doesn't commute with the rest as evidence tells me I am alone and only offered a weekly email check in. And if I deserved support and safety then wouldn't I be receiving it? It just seems like a really nonsensical thing to say to someone in the middle of fighting for their life. I haven't had a shower since before Christmas, I never know if there will be food accessible and some days are filled with words that pierce my soul.

don't worry I have used literally every possible service, and this is the best I've got. So I'm not here for answers as there is none available right now. I'm just wanting to know if I'm the only one that things that is just redundant? My brain doesn't comprehend it.

Hey @Former-Member , I have been concerned about you as I haven't heard from you in a while.

I'm sorry to hear that nothing has changed.

Has anyone been able to provide you support to complete your NDIS Access Request properly?

You deserve so much better and so much more.

Heya @Former-Member

That sounds incredibly frustrating but familiar. So many of us are told we deserve safety and support, yet we're still left in unsafe situations because of "whatever."

Have you seen this ABC article? Professor Pat McGorry, a former Australian of the Year, describes the system as "like working in a third-world sort of environment..."

Take care.

Thanks @tyme it blows my mind a stranger has concern while my family and friends have walked away at this time of my life while literally watching me sh*t myself. I don't think I'll ever forget that they saw me at my hardest struggle and walked away. I've given up on social media and trying to share my story. People don't have capacity.

even my gp said she's at her limit I said lady just help me get tpd so I have the money to finally control the outcome and let go and be free dancing with my babies but no I get the don't give up we will figure it out. I don't even have the energy to explain that I haven't showered since Christmas and every part of my body is infected or that I have two frozen meals left that I'm expected to last tipp next week. I never knew life could be like this but I'll let you know it's not fun and something I never predicted.

you just never know life will go this way and it's wild to me that people are so withdrawn but I don't know I can't judge maybe if I saw it I'd leave too. No that's a lite I've seen all these people at their worst and carried them. I try to know what I did wrong in life to deserve this and I can't figure it out all I can tell you is the cards are never dealt with how you give. That's my regret goving to all these people who were so quick to leave me at my worst and have only reached out when they want something. It makes me feel sick that I have so much to people who just walked away when I needed help. All i can say is choose kindness wisely cos it can really ruin your life.

You are a fighter and battler, and yes, I have certainly been very concerned about you. I know you are concerned about the repercussions of speaking up, but really, the current situation is family domestiv violence - it's not right that you haven't had the 'right' to shower. It's not 'right' that you are threatened with no meds and food if you step out of line.

This is not right. It is a basic human right to have rights. The social justice side of me is revving up.

Yeah @tyme I feel you and think that's why I hav to now switch off because the social worker in me and my autistic traits just see injustice and get wild haha

I think dv connect have an alert for when I call now. Everyone is just as over this as i al

and they don't even have to live it so yeah. Wild i was told what I could do as a social worker when I'm ready and I can't believe more repulsed honestly. If I do anything ot will be a completely different angle and I've never been into the research and advocacy I've been more about the individual but now all I want is to create things to help others feel seen and their voice heard.

Yeah.. totally fires me up when I consider how you are 'trapped' in your own house @Former-Member

Grrrr!

Glad to have you here though, even if it's for moral support

Re: Any neurodivergents get it?

Yeah I think I shock people because they assume I have an intellectual disability so when I begin to ask questions that are specific and educated they look at me in shock and often need a moment to think about it 😂😂

like I could have done my ndis by now and have essentially done all the foundation work but if it was seen that I was that capable then why do I need help 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ yeah Shame intelligent has stopped me so many times it blows my mind that people assume to need help you can't have any clarity. Sometimes I'm astounded although it suprise me less and less as time goes past.

it just makes me really think before I say anything to anyone even when I go into problem solve I now stop and to k wait maybe this person just needs me be to hear them. My ambition is to now think as widely as I can when someone is brave enough to share with me .

Re: Any neurodivergents get it?

Exactly @Former-Member . You are not a dufus. A physical disability does not mean you have an intellectual disabilty.

Have you read the book Out of My Mind? A really light read and super powerful to prove the above.

Re: Any neurodivergents get it?

I am so sorry to hear what you are going through. It makes me angry how much the system is broken. Your basic human needs have been violated and it’s unacceptable that they haven’t helped you in any way. For it being over 14 weeks too is utterly ridiculous. Also the lack of support is terrible.

Definitely try for some NDIS funding.

Please update us on any advances in support. Take care

Hi @tyme

I haven't heard the word dufus in ages! I love it - would be a great nickname for a new forum contributor. 😉
