Re: Any level asd level 2 ???

My granddaughter is level 2 ASD. We are just starting the NDIS application.

Think carefully about what your goals are going to be and what support you mind need to achieve them If you have a professional person who can attend the plan metting with you that can be very helpful.

Hey @Nan101 ,

Welcome to the forums

Thanks for the information. One thing about NDIS is that there is an autism package for those under a certain age. So it also depends on how old your grand daughter is. Early intervention is key. I hope you get all the documentation you need to get that application through as it can be SOOO helpful to get the support early on.

All the best.

Hey @Former-Member

Congrats on obtaining your diagnosis.

Yes ASD lvl 2 here as well.

1) The biggest suggestion I have is to have more documentation than what you think you need. Your Local Area Coordinator(LAC) will tell you what they need but it's better to have more documentation than very little. If the document says you need X Y and maybe Z, make sure you have Z if you can obtain it. If your LAC doesn't need it they will tell you.

2) this part really sucks and it hurts a lot(I'm still doing this) is to write down the worst and hardest day you have ever had. Make sure you emphasize how you cannot function if certain things are happening, you're in a certain place, how your body feels(if you can cause feelings are hard), etc. sadly the NDIS comes from a point of "what does this person suck at?" Vs "what are they great at."

2A) it's really rough on the mentality to constantly be told that you can't do this or can't do that however we can do a lot of things it just takes us a couple more stepping stones than others.

3) this might be difficult but I really suggest having either a binder/file folder with all your NDIS paperwork in it. Reports that professionals have made, stat decs(if needed) about your functionality, tests your professionals have conducted, etc. Have all of that together and most important make electronic copies of that so just in case it gets lost you have a copy of it somewhere.

I hope you get your SDA and I really hope it works out for you. Crossing my fingers.
