Isolation

Isolation

I live in an isolated area where I don’t have much opportunity to talk to or be around people during the day

I find it very disturbing to be alone so much and feel as though my brain isn’t being stimulated in worthwhile discussions and attachments to people

does anyone else feel this kind of isolation ?

I would be grateful for any thoughts in if

Re: Isolation

@Fredd50 i live in an area that's so heavily populated and yet I'm always alone and don't have anyone to talk to.

Being alone can be hard and our brains do need stimulation and we need human interaction. I've found coming here and chatting to people incredibly helpful, whilst it's not the same as person to person contact it's about making that connection to someone.

So yes I feel the isolation and it's horrible to feel so alone. Is there any groups like art/craft groups or others that may be around that you could join?

I'm always up for a chat if you need/want. You aren't alone in this 🙂

Re: Isolation

I think there might be some groups I can join but it’s hard to organise transport to them as I’m not driving at the moment and I also get anxiety joining groups

theres an activist group I go to with a support worker on Mondays but they are mostly much younger than me it’s still good to go though

I would be grateful to get involved with discussions on this forum I think it might even help better than seeing people in person

what sorts of topics do people usually talk about here?

im fascinated with understanding mental health and how the brain might work or anything else really!

Re: Isolation

@Fredd50 i guess it's something that you could look into should your situation change. I totally understand not being great in group settings as I struggle with that myself.

I'm glad you at least have something you go to and maybe your support worker could assist you in finding others around if that's something you wanted try.

Getting involved in the discussions here is a great way to connect with people. We talk about all sorts of things, obviously mental health is very much talked about. But there's also crafts, hobbies, pets etc. The other day was a completely random thread about potatoes which was great for me to keep myself distracted and I learnt some very interesting facts.

We are pretty open to talk about anything as long as it's within the safety boundaries of the forum.

Re: Isolation

I’m interested in the science of brains I read a lot about it when I was hoping to understand my mental illness better

But it would be fun to talk about anything really! I noticed there wasn’t much activity in the forums today is that usual for a Sunday?

Re: Isolation

@Fredd50 I'm sure there's some threads around that you could join in a discussion with, otherwise create your own and I'm sure people will join in and share.

It's a bit quiet today but there's still people around.
