Saying hi/ this week's left me feeling overwhelmed

Hi Friends checking in again cause sometimes its like who else is there to talk to Things have started to get overwhelming again due to a few reasons one being unsuccessfully trying to sort out paperwork which has been a real struggle even more so than normal cause its so important to get done, secondly on a more personal note Ive Been trying to recently at least start looking again at finding a partner romantically and well so far its been dificult particulary in trust ,intamacy, yesterday I had an instresting converstion with a man who was quite inquisitive about my boundaries and needs but I hanged up on him , after some reflection I realise there was a few triggoring factors but also laying some cards on the table with someone was kind of a sense of progress for me that at least I was able to have an open conversation with a man but it got to a point where I hanged up cause the fear came back but the conrsation has helped in the sense of thinking about what I do and maybe dont want in a partner if that makes any sense it kind of opened my eyes to some things about myself but also what I do or dont like in others so I guess theres that but yes generally have felt overwhelmed lately and although the man I spoke to was apearing caring there was a few things I wasnt completely sure of so I guess my instinct may have made me a bit hyper aware of some of those things I guess Im trying to say I learnt something at least even if that person wasnt right for me ,besides Ive just found his blocked me on the dating app but I guess thats cause I hanged up on him ,its so hard to tell now wether men are completely trustworthy or not ,and I mean no offense to anyone Male on here by saying that its just so hard for me so most likely Ill have to have a bit a councilling about this but I guess at least Im trying to look for whos out there a little even if I cant take all the steps yet to start a relationship with someone I mean its been a few years but maybe Im still not quite ready after that horrible time in my life anyway I have to try not to feel guilty that I havnt found my man yet ,I hope hes looking for me too ,Ive just been stressed by a few things again ,thank you for listening Ill try to get some rest feeling tired

Hi @LostAngel

It sounds like this situation really helped you to gain a new perspective, which sounds like it was ultimately positive. I'm hearing that while there were traits about this person that you liked and might look for in a romantic partner, there were maybe some that didn't gel with you as much, or that there was a sense that it wasn't quite right. It's awesome that you've been able to take the time to reflect on this and consider why you had the response of needing to hang up. These times of reflection can really help us learn and grow.

The idea of treating each encounter as a potential learning experience, one that can help you better understand what you want in a relationship, sounds like a really good approach. This can also maybe take some pressure off needing to find the right person straight away, or worry about wasting time. Maybe it'll just take baby steps to help you to feel more ready to open up to someone again, but hopefully all those little steps will eventually lead you towards someone wonderful, and at the very least they'll give you more insight into yourself

Hope you got some rest last night, and the rest of the week is a bit less stressful for you
