Chronic fatigue in mental health conditions

Chronic fatigue in mental health conditions

Hi I'm new. I have a few mental health conditions which are well managed with a number of medications. I am in my mid life and walk to work. But the fatigue is relentless. The symptoms of my illnesses are controlled with the exception of debilitating fatigue. Have done medicals but shows nothing.

Re: Chronic fatigue in mental health conditions

I hear you about chronic fatigue. I haven't got it myself, but I know someone who does, and it is debilitating. The hard part is that you never know if you will manage to get out of bed or not, and you just can't predict how long it will last.

Have you found anything that helps? Then again, if you have, you'd probably not be writing this post

@AJ16

I'm here if you need a chat.

Hi @AJ16,

Welcome to the Forum, and thank you very much for sharing.

I am sorry to see that chronic fatigue is affecting your life so much. It's a horrible condition that is often so misunderstood by people, including health professionals.

I care for a parent who has had ME/CFS my entire life and it's different each day, but it certainly limits their capacity and causes them a lot of pain (both physical and emotional).

Have you heard of Emerge Australia? They are the national patient organisation for people living with ME/CFS and long covid and have a range of services, including a telehealth service, peer support groups, and virtual support groups (next intake is Feb 25 due to the demand, but there is a waitlist).

I hope that you know that you're not alone and that you find the support that you need.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Re: Chronic fatigue in mental health conditions

Hi, I also suffer with very debilitating fatigue. On meds for mild depression & anxiety (for past 18m) and was actually helping a lot with the fatigue. Still had the odd day off work but otherwise working well. Until. . ...a month ago. Back really bad. Off work most of October. I now feel my Menapause could be at play? Been in it past 5 years and prior 17 years in peri-menapause. I took have had a zillion blood tests and all come back normal. I get random aches/pains anywhere. Faint at times, loss of appetite at times, love of sugar more than I use to 😞. Any mental and/or physical exertion ruins me. Sometimes for days. So sorry for long reply. Hearing others go thru similar actually helps me not feel so alone in this.
