Managing thoughts of suicide & self-harm

I’m done

I’m done

Hi all, I have no hope that this will help me in any way. I have tried talking to people and found it completely useless and a waste of time. I am coming to a point where something has to give. Anti depressants have kept me barely functioning for almost twenty years whilst destroying my personal life and making me an emotionless monster. I have struggled with employment after leaving the military and will usually tolerate a job until I get fired or just quit. I am just plain tired of this “life” and can’t wait for it to be over. I understand my wife will be sad when I go but she will be better off without me screwing up her plans for the future. I am not suicidal as I don’t think I have the courage to do it. I have just given up.

Hi @GreaseKnuckles

Welcome to the forums, and thanks for sharing your story.

Sounds like you're in a pretty dark place; Maybe bleak is more the word?

I can see from your message that you're safe right now, but you're not feeling the pull of life in a positive direction.

You have reached out for support though, which positive and shows an ability to care for yourself. You know you need company; specifically in a place where you won' be judged.

You've found that place with us. I hope you will feel more at home here, and I know our members will make you feel at home, and supported.
