Something’s not right

More depressed than ever

More depressed than ever

Hi everyone,

Does anyone else feel like their depression is suddenly a lot worse, for no reason at all? I’ve had a lot go wrong this past year, but I’m now feeling worse than I did when everything went wrong.

I keep trying to find small things that give me joy each day, but it’s getting harder to find joy in anything other than being asleep.

How do you deal with this? I feel like even taking a shower or watching tv has become difficult. I’ve been in therapy for most of the year and it hasn’t helped at all. It just makes me feel even more alone, because nothing is working.

If anyone has any tips about things that can help, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks xx

Hi @GhostGirl123. I was really hesitant to reply, because I've been experiencing exactly the same thing this year. So I worry anything I say will make it feel worse for you, because I don't really have any answers yet myself. I think the depression, even quite a while after the initial events that lead to it can suddenly get worse because it tends to grind away at us, wearing us down, until the tiniest thing just triggers a big fall.

I've found that just keeping to try to reach out to people (like here) helps me, looking for new supports and new ideas. Not many of them have worked out, but I keep trying because a couple have and even just the trying acts as a distraction. I have been told it would be helpful to set a schedule of even just one thing to do each day but I never did it, bit it may help you if you find structure helps. But as I said, the main thing that seems to help get me through the days is to just try and keep connecting with people, even if it's just through mashing away on a keyboard.

Thank you @MJG017 for responding, it really helps to know that I’m not alone in this. I hope you begin to feel better soon as well. It’s horrible being in this mindset. Hopefully we can both heal sometime soon xx

@GhostGirl123You're definitely not alone in this, and I'm not just talking about me. I've talked to quite a few people who experience very similar issues.

I think it's important for us all to just keep trying, even when it feels like nothing is working. It can be really slow at times, but eventually we start to notice the improvement and it builds from there. Fingers crossed that improvement comes soon for the both of us. Take good care of yourself.

@GhostGirl123

I've just been reading some of the older posts and came across yours. I was feeling okay for a quiet awhile but suddenly today my depression came back with a vengence. I have no idea why but here I am on the SANE forum at 12:50 am. 😔

I noticed you posted on the 27/8 so I hope your depression has lifted and that you are okay.

Hi @Former-Member ! Thanks for commenting on my post. Things took a bit of a nosedive for me, so I’m currently in hospital. I’m hoping they’ll be able to give me the help I need.

I hope you’re able to find some relief in your own situation, as I know how scary it can be when depression hits an almighty low. Thinking of you xx

Hi @GhostGirl123

I'm so sorry things went downhill for you and that you are now in hospital. I hope you have a great team of professionals to look after you.

I'm feeling a little bit better but it was a long night. I went for a walk this morning and even managed to smile at a young couple out walking, and they smiled back. 😊 That's a big achievement for me as I usually walk with my head down to avoid people but I'm trying my hardest to connect more with people. This forum is a good starting place. I will force myself to go out and do some gardening this morning as it gets me out of the house. 🌹🌳

I hope you will be home soon and that there will be someone their to support you. I know it's an ongoing journey we are all on.

R 😸
