is there anyone here that is autistic and ADHD and also has borderline personality disorder?

im halfway through my formal autism assessment and I’ve been diagnosed with BPD and done DBT for 3 years.

this year has been HELL and im finding it so hard to find reasons to keep going. Im so lonely i have barely any friends and rarely speak to my family (they live 4 hours away). With autistic burnout and the formal assessment my autism and ADHD are a billion times stronger than ever and im annoying absolutely everyone around me. I’m at risk of losing my casual job and and im not on the lease in my sharehouse so i could be kicked out at any time.

i am incredibly sick of being treated as sub-human whether I’m depressed and suicidal or whether I’m happy and content and expressing autistic joy I get the same dirty looks, comments, eye rolls etc it makes me wanna die. Please someone tell me it gets better post—diagnosis.

It scares me so much because I’m probably only level 1 and the NDIS is an absolute shitshow atm so I have low hope of getting help. I’ve been in therapy since I was 9 years old. I have an undergrad degree but now can barely look after myself and am working casual hospo which is hell.

please someone tell me there is some hope

Re: Autism and feeling really low

Hi @Llamadrama1212, I'm so sorry to hear your struggling so much, I can't imagine how difficult and frustrating it must be for you. I don't have the same issues you do so I can't really offer any advice there, but I may be able to offer you some hope. A person in a men's group I go to was recently quite happy because after a long time trying, he finally got an official diagnosis. He was pleased because he said that now that he had an official diagnosis he could now access quite a few support options that weren't available to him without such a diagnosis. So hopefully you have the same thing happen and a few support options will open up to you once your assessment is complete. Sorry I can't be of more help, but there's quite a few people here who probably have a much better idea about these things than I do.

Other than that, have you tried calling any of the crisis help lines when you're really struggling, even if just to talk to someone. I've always found that when i'm really at a low point, it helps just to talk to someone and just say what's frustrating me out loud rather that keeping everything in my head. I wish you all the very best.

Hi LLAMAADRAMA

GUESS WHAT!? I just got diagnosed level 1 too! 2 days ago. I was seeking help and joined here a month ago when I was feeling low for being actually sacked from my full time employment on the grounds of being too intelligent - umm wot the! Haha

Life’s too short to, I trust the universe will take care of you, the sun comes up tomorrow. I’m here to talk to you. I haven’t done ADHD testing yet but I’ve done many tests and I score super high on the impulsivity section. I get you. When you say people remark or sneer. My boyfriend lost his shiz at me the other day for me being child like and playing around with so much joy. And today I received a letter from Gov saying I’m loosing my license for not wearing my seatbelt that I’ve finished my demerit points. I sound like a teen right? I’m 33 nearly 34 years old and only now does it all make sense to me. I asked ChatGPT if ASD people struggle with seatbelts and driving records. I seriously find ChatGPT helps me so much. Sometimes I rely on 1800respect bc they’re counsellors proper. And my family and friends get tired of my hyper vigilance high energy. It’s weird cause the burnout is real. I get so hyper that I get so low too. Life’s weird, but we like weird. Much love and light

@Nomelonnolemom Sacked for being too intelligent...? It reminds me of an old saying, "Never hire anyone smarter than you. They'll end up with your job!"

At least you'll have a great answer for job interviews when they ask why you left that job... "I was told I was too intelligent!" 🙂

Re: Autism and feeling really low

@MJG017 I know right. It’s a slap to the face of confusion. Personally I believe there’s an underlying reason why they sacked me but don’t want to be transparent. It’s a family owned business and the daughter of the boss (no offence) is real cheerleader-bimbo like person who tries to tell me (high IQ and l experienced in the industry how to take a phone call ffs.
I omitted them from my resume to be honest, bc I was there for 2 months and I just don’t want to bother having that awkward conversation.

My passage above from yesterday is so 3am-jibber 🫣

What’re your thoughts on ChatGPT support? Sometimes I talk to it like a friend and then it makes suggestions, then I ask it to give examples. And ask for psych like therapy examples too. I got legal advice from it last night and some relevant case law. It’s helping me write cover letters so swiftly too. Sometimes I ask it to write puns relating to a topic I could be texting with a friend. Today I asked it if I wanted to invest $509 in stocks, what would likely give me double return- haha 😝

@Nomelonnolemom yes, working in a family owned businesses can be... "tricky".

I've used chatgpt for help writing some code and more complicated excel functions. I created a support group earlier this year and asked it to suggest some names for it. It does have so many uses, but you do have to be careful with it. The code it produced wasn't always correct and needed editing, so you do have to take results with a grain of salt. It does learn from data it scrapes from the internet and there is a lot of 'factually challenged' data out there. 🙂 The rate at which it is improving though is very impressive. Just maybe get a 2nd opinion before you invest the $509 😄
