In the wild

In the wild

Well, I’m just going to write here today after a day feeling like I was running through the forest trying to escape pumas and tigers. I’m sorry I come here mainly when I have difficulties and wish I could give more when things aren’t feeling so rough.

The past week has been a rough one again. I’m hoping for some solid ground to come back rather than this constant sense of threat, fear and anxiety.

So maybe I will use this thread to jot down my thoughts and feelings and experiences and maybe some tools.

Does anyone else have conversations at home alone with other people they know? Like you talk to someone, like your manager or friend, as if they were there. It’s something I’ve done for as long as I can remember. I guess it was a response to loneliness and not having anyone to talk to about things and feeling I could communicate my thoughts etc easier to someone without them being present. Tonight I wondered as well whether I did it as a tool to manage my anxiety and fear - somehow it filled the gap of not having control or being worried about uncertainty. Thinking about how ingrained this is in my life makes me wonder whether I am really quite cooked and too far gone. But maybe it’s something others do as well and we just don’t talk about it because we police ourselves with ideas of normality.

Anyway, taking each day as it comes. I really do hope I make it through this. I promise you

tonight I am playing some soothing music and going to curl up with a pillow. I’m fortunate to enjoy sleep - probably the main way I can escape the world.

Hey @Hyperballad

I'm sorry to hear that things have been tough for you lately. I often go over conversations that I have had with people and think about what I might have said differently. That generally happens when my anxiety is high about something, which it sounds like your anxiety at the moment is high as well. Good on you for coming to the forums to jot it down.

How did you sleep? Sleep can work wonders.

Hi @Hyperballad

How are ye doing today mate. The beauty of the forums is that it gives you a chance to say whats on your mind, get stuff off your chest and have a decent rant if you want to. People might respond, they may not, but its just so good for the soul that things that you have been bottling up gets to be released.

As for talking to yourself and others when alone, I do it all the time, generally when I have stuffed or been really dumb about someone/something. Sometimes I tell my friends that there are 3 people inside my head, Me Myself and I --- Me is generally good, Myself notso and I, who gets me into trouble.

Hope you had a good sleep, I always look forward to it, as I have the most vivid of dreams......Asgard

Re: In the wild

Thanks @Asgard. I’ve had a bit of a break from the forum as work has been a good distraction and had a good start to last week. I actually did mindfulness pottery with my niece last weekend. Everything was going well and then today a bunch of emotions returned but have been connecting with my child emotions more, so that might explain things today. So I did some cooking (soup) and have just made it a self-care day before the week begins 🙂

Hi @Hyperballad

Hope this finds you well, "mindfulness pottery" now what does that entail exactly, for me all the mindfulness would be trying to keep the clay from flying off the wheel!!!. You seem to know yourself very well, which is great. You know your triggers and setting aside a day just for yourself sounds like a great plan. Keep smiling mate and speak soon ......Asgard
