I never see my mother because of mental illness.. it hard not having this role model in your life.

I think it helps you develop as a person @spritley @DanielleBorkett . It can give you an understanding that other children just don't have.
I'm not denying it can be challenging though

I know how hard it is not to have a relationship with your mother and mother's day and birthdays can make that feel worse.
there is a lot to heal around the "mother wounding" and it can be a lifelong journey of selfcare and self discovery to be able to let go of this deep pain of separation.
i chose not to have my own children because i didnt feel emotionally competent..and i also recognise that having children and becoming a mother... might actualy help to heal these wounds through greater undrstanding and compassion for our own parents.
having spaces which can offer support for those whose parent(s) suffered mental health issues (or were not available in other ways) is so important.
so glad we can be here together to offer connection and support to each other
