Struggling and with lack of support

Struggling and with lack of support

It's a bad time of the month not just with Christmas but anniversaries discovered though that the people who are meant to help me are not very helpful. Found out my case manager thinks everything's my fault when things go bad. Discovered if you go to ed at the hospital and you are a mental health patient that you can be treated as a third rate citizen. Very frustrating but not helpful.

Re: Struggling and with lack of support

Hi @Evilchild

I'm sorry to hear that things are not so great at this time of year wiht anniversaries and things. Also sounds like you dont feel supported by your case manager. It's hard to feel so alone. I've lost my support worker until jan sometime.

Lots of people on here have felt unfairly treated or dismissively treated by hospitals/ED's. it's awful. I have had relatively minor experiences of the stigmatism from drs.

I hope that you'll find some support and help here,

LJ

Re: Struggling and with lack of support

Hi @Evilchild,

I understand how you are feeling about ED and being treated as a third rate citizen. I just experienced that last week. I have had experience with a case manager who has been unsupportive before. It makes it so hard to find your feet when you don't feel supported. I'm really sorry it's a hard time of year for you with anniversaries and Christmas. It must make it feel harder with not feeling supported by your mental health team too. Thinking of you with this. Please feel free to write more if you find it helpful. Sometimes it takes a while for others to respond so don't feel worried by it, it has been quiet lately as so many of us are struggling with christmas too.

Re: Struggling and with lack of support

You are not alone in feeling like this at this time of year. It does seem like anyone you have counted on or supported you is not going to be around and you are going to have to 'cope' on your own. It's also the anniversary of the death of my grandmother this week so that makes it even more difficult for me. What I have found is working well (better than I ever expected) is the support you can have from members on this forum. Keep talking, keep listening, and keep strong!

Re: Struggling and with lack of support

Hi @Evilchild

You are not alone in feeling alone at this time of year with other anniveraries happening

Having so much of our support systems closing down on us is really hard - luckily I have an agency taking care of many of my issues and yet it is hard to find workers to fill in when people go on holidays

And when we have all kinds of different needs it makes me wonder why so many people don't figure this out

But having your Case Worker think it's your fault that things go wrong in your life is a rough deal - did she explain this to you?

Also - the question is where can you go but to the ED when you have any kind of health concerns - but also - as well as we can be treated at times - there are other times when the system is stretched so far people can't be treated as well as would be hoped

I have experienced this with chronic pain - and the ED is not the place to go with chronic pain - and I guess the same is true of MI - it depends a lot on who is on duty at the time and how much time they have to deal with these issues and if they understand them

But yes - it is sad at this time of year - with people going away on the holidays due to them - and the anniversaries - there will always be anniversaries

I'm sorry this happens - but it does
