Just released

Just released

I don't know if anyone can see this because I have no idea what I'm doing so I might be talking to myself again. I was released from prison a few months ago after almost 20 years being out of the community and to say the truth I'm totally lost. everything has changed and it's not good. I can't use the phone properly ,I know no one ,I can't talk to normal people ,iv tried getting on chat sites but cant work them out and they all want money .I don't even know if this is a real site or just a rort like everything else. I think I like prison better than being out here. I feel like I just don't belong out here anymore.its a very lonely place.

Re: Just released

Hey @Sgj welcome to the forums! Not to worry, this place is definitely not a scam and is a safe place for folks to connect and share their experiences. I can totally understand why you're feeling so isolated, 20 years is a long time and it will take some time to readjust to things and build a sense of safety and comfort. I think it's not uncommon for folks released from a long time in prison to then long to go back - being thrust into a world that feels unfamiliar and have to make your way on your own would be a huge challenge.

You could potentially seek some after-prison support? I found some stuff online you could explore - here's The Samaritans website, they have a support line too (1300 656 336). I also found this list of services from a govt website, could be some options worth exploring.

Finding new routine might be a good way to start. Filling your day with things you enjoy, want to explore, or even picking up some volunteer work, are all good ways to help find your footing. I also hope you can find some friends here to chat to along the way - feel free to check out our social spaces, where you can jump onto any thread you like and start connecting to members. We've also got some tips & tricks here to help you navigate your way around the forums.

Let us know if there's anything we can support you with! Hope you find what you're looking for here 😁

Re: Just released

Thanks mate.

I was shocked when I found you talked back to me, I'm hopeless using this phone and if I find something once I can't find it again because of names and passwords that I forgot as soon as I write them down, thankyou for writing back to me
